Last night I was having trouble getting my pump primed, and this is what I woke up to. Can this be fixed easily or a return item?

are you talking about the o-ring on the basket? i is tight and it seems to be seated correctly. i always keep these lubed. the water isnt coming down the basket at all, justfrom the little seam on the bottom and no water dripping anywhere else coming down the sides of anything. thanks so much for your response so quickly this morning. i was leaving for appointment and just now returned. maybe we will get this figured out. nothing has been messed with around that area. love this site. you all have helped me tons and keep doing so.I would check to make sure o ring is seated and lubed and try to tighten down again. At least thats where i would start.
NEW UPDATE AND MORE PHOTOS: So, as of now, this leak has stopped when I came home and turned pump on. Was gone all day and only had about 5 or 6 drops in that bowl (rock was in bowl to hold it down...lol...lotta wind today!) The drip was fairly constant, but a very small one. I've had pump on for about an hour and a half and no dripping yet. I am gonna try to send some better pics the pump as a whole and a video. This is Intex 16 in sand filter pump and won't be a year old until October. Question...should their be that many bubbles in pump basket AND in SWG clear tubes? I didn't have that many before. And, would it be safe to run this all night since it hasn't run at all today? Keeping check on numbers and clorine has went down some today so I'm really watching it and testing. I guess it won't let me upload video and pics dont seem to show the bubbles.Last night I was having trouble getting my pump primed, and this is what I woke up to. i updated my post above and hope i answered some of your questions. yes,, intex pump, i uploaded some more photos, tried a video of bubbles that are happening now, but said it was too large. when i got home this evening, no leak. i had pump off all day while i was gone and only amount of 5 or 6 drops in bowl i put under it to catch drips. never was a steady stream, but a steady small, slow drip.pump was bought in october. only had it hooked up a week before winterizing and unhooking hoses. thanks so much again.Could you get a little further back picture? I cant tell for sure where you are at on the pump. It may help others to give you better advice on what to try. Is this an intex pump unit? And how long have you had it before running into this leak? Is it a lot of water or just a drip every few seconds?
to an extent, the bubbles are getting larger. when i first turn it on, there is one or two very small ones, like normal, as it runs, more and larger. my SWG quit working (the low salr error code and the curse of the INTEX PUMP!!!) so it has not been on. i normall have a few smaller bubble flowing through it when in operation. these are big bubbles and alot of them. just didnt think they would be in there if it wasnt turned on. thanks so much, ya'll are so good on here! i tell everyone i know that has pools about TFP!!!!Are the bubbles getting larger in the pump basket? And from what i read in here your swcg creates chlorine gases and that causes bubbles in the swcg. Those are normal i would say.
sure, i will try that. it is actually coming from where the pre filter housing slips on to the motor housing paart, at the bottom. i will try to do the picture.water leaks turn into air leaks when the pump is on, you may have a tiny crack or a seal going. I still can't tell exactly where the water was coming from. can you draw an arrow or a circle in ms paint or something? maybe even make an arrow with tape or a sharpie and take another picture.

thanks again!. no, this is not an all in one unit. I bought the SWG the year before i got this sand filter. their call center at intex is no different than it always has been. thinking on different brand as these are technically THROW AWAY AFTER USE type generators, but prices so high and i know nothing about best/cheapest/most reliable in other brands. i cant afford alot and when reading reviews, i read alot of bad with the good on several brands. BUT, this goes with any type of product and that is why i am at a loss as what to do. was leaning towards a cheaper Hayward, mostly because alot of people on here stand behind them, but then some say Hayward doesnt stand behind their products. dont know if i believe that or not. sometimes we tend to read too much, lol....UNLESS we are reading on TFP forums and pages! i will keep trying to get ahold of intex on the sand filter pump and see what they want to do. i did read that customer has to pay for shipping and i really hate to think what it would cost with rise in everything else. on the SWG, maybe someone or several someones will help me decide which way to go before my pool turns green!.BTW, should i keep my cloring a little higher with the higher temps and generator not working? we have had temps in the low nineties all last week! thanks yall, i gotta keep this pool clean for these twin rugrats i have here or they may trade me in for a younger model! ha!Regarding your leak - that’s a warranty situation , repair isn’t really a feasible Option for most intex pumps as they’re just not designed that way.
Regarding your low salt light- definitely check your salt level before adding more.
If it persists with adequate salt levels I would make a warranty claim. Is This is an all in one unit? It should have a 2 yr warranty. Double check your manual of course to verify or find it on www.intexcorp.com. Hopefully their call center is in better shape now.
here are my current results:Can you post a recent set of test results? Your poolmath logs are out of date. If you raised the CYA to 70 for your SWG then you are going to need to keep the FC higher until the SWG is working properly. Use the liquid chlorine column on the FC/CYA Levels to determine FC level for your pool. You want to keep it at the upper range for the target.
you are so right about intex and the rising prices. it is crazy!! i have had at least 4 intex saltwater generators through the years. one lasted three years, but that was my first one and many years ago. the others have only lasted 2 years and less. i know i could have boughten a better one with the money i have spent, but i rent my home, i am raising twin grandkids and on a limited income. i just have to do what i can at the time. and.... like i said, in researching for one now, i dont know what to get because some people say even some of these for above ground pools only last a few years. i just am so confused!. i guess i am so comfortable with the set up of intex, i am scared to venture out, but i really want to get past these one season wonders of intex SWG!!! thanks so much for your help. i am checking out the link you sent in this post!!I had a good experience w/ intex after i got my 1st automatic cleaner & it was a dud. They just sent me a new one- no shipping the old one back. Hopefully if your swg is on the way out you can limp it along w/ slightly higher salt levels for a bit. Usually its an intermittent thing at first.
At current prices the intex equipment isn’t the bargain it used to be compared to more robust longer lasting products.
Here’s a good comparison chart of different swg’s & their outputs, warranties etc. -
something to think about with upgrades of equipment especially if you plan to eventually get a more permanent pool you will already have those things in place.Compare and Review Saltwater Chlorine Generator Prices and Features | DSP
