Utah man tells family they'll never be getting a pool....

Ok. Construction has stalled. Waiting for RockyMountain power to draw up the plans to bury the power line. I'm going nuts here. My 13 year made a time lapse of the construction in the mean time....

It's been a long process, but progress is being made!
A major hang up for us was getting our arial power lines buried. They didn't run directly over the pool but were very close. While we had the yard opened up we decided to just do it.
Last night RockyMountain Power hooked our power up with the new under ground cables, so that is awesome.
Tile work and track is laid, now it's time for coping and pavers as I understand it.
Bought the tiles sight unseen. Had a certain tile in mind, ordered them, and within minutes of leaving the store my PB called me telling me it would be 12 weeks for that tile. Instead he found a similar subway tile that he could get in 2 weeks. Sure whatever. It's COVID. Get building materials anyway you can.
Tile comes in and looks awesome. Slight bevel to it and made in Japan. Pleasant surprises do happen.
Vertical lay is unusual but I think it's going to give a very clean look to the pool.
Scheduled for plaster 2 weeks out.
No heater yet, but should be coming soon. The rest of the equipment has been procured.

YES!...

So back on Post one.. this whole project could have been averted.. I see a clear shot to the neighbors pool when the fence was taken out, and your track record of saying "No Pool" would have remained intact!.. ;)
Great point. I tried to sell this to my family in September to no avail.
Further complicating the plan is that we haven't been invited to their pool in 14 years of home ownership here.

For you it was a pool. For me, a kitchen remodel.

Buy house. Kitchen is ... not great (being very polite).
Wife: I **HATE** this kitchen. Maybe we could paint the cabinets, see if that helps.
Wife: <gets quote> They want $4k to paint.
Me: There's no point putting lipstick on this pig, the cabinets aren't worth 4k and won't ever be.

Fast forward a bit ....

Yeah, we're spending gunite pool money on a kitchen.

Been in our house for 12 years. In that time:

1. New hardwood floors and carpeting
2. New kitchen
3. New garage door, plantation shutters
4. 1500 sq Ft paver patio, fire pit, outdoor kitchen, smoker, etc. in rear.
5. Built-ins around inside fireplace
6. Pool on side of house
7. Remodel kid’s bathroom

Next project is master bath remodel.

Luckily, 80% I did myself. Still, I would have just purchased a new construction house. My wife always has and always will have more projects.
