Broken PVC Sleeves on Pentair SWC 60

After I scale-cleaned my Pentair SWC, i overtightened the sleeves and broke them. To be fair, these are the original ones, as the installers glued everything in such a way that i could not put the replacement sleeves onto the system, without tearing the plumbing all up. I did break the old sleeves, and even after i'd put Moly Kote thread sealer in there...oh well. So, what to do now? I have to replace the sleeves somehow.

I have the leak down to a trickle, and am tempted to try to hot glue the thing together (sleeve and see if that holds until the Fall..and then re-do the thing. I'd read about the these Reed Ream tool, which i might try to use to bore out pvc male that connects the SWC to the manifold. and then get fresh, minimal parts to connect up the system.

Any thoughts?

thank you.

V,

The hub saver (reamers) work great.. But make sure you hold on to the drill when it first starts or it will rip the drill right out of you hand... It tried to break my wrist!!!

I have a rent house where I cracked the union fitting just like yours. I took the cell out and used epoxy to "temporarily" glue the crack shut.. Once the epoxy dried, I put the cell back in. That was about 4 years ago and it is still working.

They sell replacement unions just for the IntelliChlor.. P/N 520595..

Thanks,

Jim R.
