All,
Hoping someone can help here. I posted recently about needing a new pump, and went the route of replacing the motor and parts instead to save a bit. Ordered replacement motor and drivetrain setup (all mounting plates, seals, etc) last month, and then last week found the impeller fused to the cap not spinning. Tech stated I installed shaft seal backwards, so I bit the bullet and ordered replacement cap, impeller and shaft seal again.
Reinstalled everything, quadruple checking that shaft seal is proper. Pump has been running about 8 hours a day for only 4 days, and today i see that the pump is not working again.
dissasemble to find the diffuser cap grinding away again, and the ceramic part of the shaft seal melting on the sides of the seal plate.
Disassembled, the pump does move the impeller freely, so it appears to be a fit issue. This was my first replacement project on the pool, but how likely can this be that Inyo sent either the wrong seal plate or something being defective with one of the parts? Aside from the wet housing, everything ws replaced out to match the motor.
At the rate I am at, should have just ordered a whole new pump......
I did reach back out to inyo pools and left them a message, but looking to the TFP crew as well!
Update to add pump details:
Original pump - Hayward SP1607Z1M, 1 hp
replaced with Century 1.5 hp UST1152. Also replaced all drive train, only remaining part was the wet strainer housing.
Thanks all
