New IG pool owner, question before first startup

Lots of work and fixing these last few weeks and finally today I dropped the liner in. Due to the idiot that did the verm last time the back corners are very slightly wrinkled down deep but it's OK. Pool filling now! Liner went in very easy, had to play with the shallow end alignment for about 10 mins and we had the rest of it hung in another 15 mins.

I also restored the steps with the kit from pool step specialists. That stuff is top notch and they have great customer service! I ended up doing a new layer of fiberglass on the entire steps because of all the crazing cracks on it.

I'll get some pictures up soon, I am BEAT

Water finally up enough to get the pump and filters running. All new sand so I backwashed for a few minutes then rinsed until my sight glass was clear. Now I have 2 of 3 returns flowing water back to the pool. Any tips?

Also my pressure gauge on my pump reads zero. It's a brand new 0-100 gauge. If I unscrew the gauge water shoots out the pipe.

I just shut the pump off and unscrewed the gauge and there was a vaccum in the system being pulled on the gauge. Earlier water must have been residual. Filter was in filter mode. Hayward variflo xl filter took 300lbs of sand. What's going on!

Never

mind, just pulled the gauge and turned it on it was an old faithful geyser. Third return is acting like it wants to maybe bubble a smidgen. Here is my return plumbing.

That little valve thing on the right pipe is set to on I think? There is a dot on the tab that points to off. If I turn to dot to ON only one return flows water. 20210523_212802.jpg

Fired it up again, I am actually getting 1 to 2 psi it looks like. All three returns are flowing well and the skimmer and main drain are pulling fine.

I can hear what sounds like air in the top of the filter mechanism. Its a hayward and there is no air bleed even though the pump line is above the discharge line. The pump basket itself fills quickly and there is zero air under the cover.

Edit: it's a vari flo XL

How do I get it to quiet down and get the air out? I know it showing 2 psi isn't right lol! The pump makes its normal motor sound but you can hear churning in the filter.

Maybe the spider gasket is bad? I'm not getting any sand in the pool or stray water from the backwash line

There is zero air in the pump, when I primed it and ran it the first time the water filled it completely to the lid. Keeps its prime too when I turn it off. I'll just run it and keep an eye on things. I am using a Clorox test right now to test chlorine and PH in the meantime. Got my tf-100 ordered today! Waiting on all this CYA to dissolve

Just a thought as well, I have 3 return jets with one being about 12" below and off to the side of the skimmer. Would this be a pressure vacuum port? Wondering if I should plug it and get a better vortex around the pool with the other two returns, or point that return by the skimmer down towards the deep end?
