Exposed pipe after gunite

What is going on top of that area? You have to be concerned with hammering or drilling that may crack the pipe.

Why do you have that raised inside lip? The bond beam is usually smooth for copings tones to be laid on top of it.

It will be interesting how they build up that lip to create a rolled surface for the tile. It does not look rolled right now.

So on top of that exposed pipe is going to be laid a bed of mortar on which the coping stone will be set. If you are lucky that stone will never have to be removed in the life of the pool.

If you are unlucky and the stone above that pipe needs to be replaced for whatever reason and a mason goes to chisel out the mortar to create a flat bed for the new stone there is a good chance he will hit the pipe not knowing it is exposed.

A mason is not expecting to have a pipe exposed outside the gunite.

I appreciate your input, I wouldn't expect to see an exposed pipe either. We are addressing a few punch list items tomorrow, and will add the pipe and the beam to the list. This spa has been headache, and was built about 6 inches smaller than what we contracted for. I'm not sure what can be done at this point.
