Hey all,
I inherited a house with a pool (hopefully in signature.) I wanted to convert it to salt before opening. I had a family friend who was supposed to come help but he never came. I hired another guy to help me open and he said 4-5 90s would restrict flow to much. I already purchased the HaywardT-cell 5. Is there anyway I can convert to this with my current setup? Can you help me with the plumbing.
im finding y’all know more than most these professional ppl. The pic is my current setup1E91EB10-DA6F-422E-BE12-0EA8A0966237.jpeg

To easy, I have over 11 90's in mine and it works just fine :)

I think that cell is 2 inch, is your soft pipe 2 inch? I know the through wall is 1.5 inch and I am almost positive the filter side is also1.5 inch..

Good Lord that’s a load of bull feathers !!!! You have 3 ft of pipe. 90s reducing flow is one of those things that’s completely true but also not enough that anyone would ever see the difference if they added a couple more.

They may technically be right but they couldn’t be more wrong.

Replace the flex pipe after the filter with PVC and unions. You should have plenty of room to install the SWG on the new straight pipe going back to the pool.

You’re right the cell is 2 he did mention that. He also didn’t have anything to convert it to 1.5 with him. Is it possible? How should I proceed?

It is a vertical cell also I’m not sure how that complicates things

It may make the pipe higher than the pool before going back down but totally doable. Come out of the filter upwards with a 90, install the vertical cell and then go back down to the pool. Or go down at the filter, Over to the pool and put the SWG going up just before the return.

*edit I like the down way better for aesthetic reasons.

The return pipe to the pool from the filter, yes. Install the new pipe down to the ground and over to the pool. Then install the SWG on the up pipe going to the return jet
