Gcfi outlet placement

Hey guys! I wasn't exactly sure where to ask this, but running into an issue on my dry pool set up. The area that would be most suited for the pool is pretty far from an outlet, let alone a gfci one. Our home is older and has only one gfci outlet in the entire home.
What setup do I need. I know I'll need an electrician for sure, but any other ideas or options? Anyone else have this issue, What did you do? I know an extension cord is a no no, considering that we plan to have the pool set up year around I want it done once, and done right!

Is this a portable/ storable pool (intex type)? If so scroll on down to 680.30 of the above referenced link. Also most folks go ahead & put a quad or two separate receptacles in that case so u have room for the gigantic cord ends on the pump & possibly a swg.

Thanks! Reading through it now. This pool is an intex, 12x30. Was hoping to have it up by my kids birthday, but definitely not happening.
The cord isn't very long. Can these outlets be stand alone, nearest outlet is 15-20ft away. Sorry if its a stupid question. just trying to figure out the logistics of it all, an electrical post in the middle of the yard! :ROFLMAO:

Yes - most people set a post near their equipment. There’s quite a few threads on it here. Some have really cool set ups to shade their equipment or have storage & such.

Here’s some pics of how I did mine. 2 circuits, ran underground in pvc conduit, to a 4x6 post near the pool.

If you’re bringing in an electrician to do this, I’d recommend running two separate circuits right away if possible. If you ever decide to upgrade from an Intex to a “permanent” above ground pool, code requires the pump be on a dedicated circuit and a separate circuit/outlet between 6-20 feet from the pool for any accessories.

edit: forgot the album...

hi there, still in the building phase too (and learning the site so forgive me if the pics upload all crazy). The rainy weather here in Louisiana has been ridiculous so can only work on getting the pool up when we can. Can share what we did last weekend before all this crazy weather. We ran an outlet and used a direct burial wire.

How do you upload and save an album ? Can you save them under your profile or it goes to a general gallery?

Thank you guys!! I think adding an extra outlet in the yard/side of garage is a good idea even if this pool isn't going to be up for years to come. Will definitely be checking with building codes. our neighborhood isn't an HOA, but is pretty good about checking up on everyones doings. I had the city called on me for "excessive" planters in backyard. Incidentally, above ground pools aren't frowned upon, at least by current neighbors, which I was originally worried about!

This is the setup I maybe looking at too. Did you guys do the work yourself, or hired an electrician?

We did the work. I had an existing panel (was a camper plug) power was run on my main breaker and the garage. Ran the wire from there (and added another receptacle) to the pool side and added a receptacle. Will build a little platform for the pump and get that plug nice and sturdy. Then one day Ill actually get the pool up and can swim

Maybe it’s just the pictures, but this looks like a pretty shallow trench. Check local codes but in my case I had to bury my lines at least 18 inches deep to pass inspection.

Edit: Also, not sure how much of that pad your pool will occupy, but my outlet(s) had to be > 6 feet from the pool wall. Check local codes. :)

Menu -> Media -> Your Content -> Your Albums

You can create multiple albums and then when you upload pictures, assign them to an album. Makes it easier when you want to share a group of pictures in the future. :)

The plug is temporary and the footing is dug out for landscaping also. Thanks for the tip. Will look in to it and correct if neccessary.
