Heater was working fine, heating the water to 80, then suddenly stopped at 65. Red service led now on.
I looked on the circuit board, and looking at the top of the board down, the PV led is off, TFUSE is off, the HITEMP is bright green.
Does anyone know what I should try next? I've seen some repair manuals online, but they don't reference the labels I have on the circuit board. Pic attached. Thanks!

Welcome to TFP.

That is an old heater. Parts availability may be limited.

HITEMP is probably either high water temp or exhaust temp safety. It could be:
  • a bad sensor
  • low water flow - check your filter pressure and clean your filter
  • scaled heat exchanger

I thought that if the green HITEMP led was on, that was a good thing, and that the other 2 green led's are off, was a bad thing. Do I have it the wrong way around, green is bad in this old heaters case? (fyi, I did take apart and clean the filter, but it made no difference in this case). Thanks for any help.

Green just happens to be the color LED they used and the color of the LED does not indicate good or bad.

All those LEDs on the board are diagnostic LEDs and any of them on indicates a fault.

Thank you so much for the fast response! I will begin more diagnostic testing.
If anyone is reading this, it was the thermal fuse that had gone bad. When I took the fuse out and shorted the 2 wires, just to test for a few seconds, the service light went out, and the gas ignited. New fuse is now on order, just over $20 including delivery from Amazon.

The thermal fuse (fusible link) is a safety device that is meant to prevent the heater from running when an unsafe condition exists. You need to address the problem that caused the fusible link to open ( probable flame/combustion rollout ) rather than just replacing the fusible link.

So the new fuse came in, I installed it, worked great for a few hours, hot tub got up to 96 degrees, then the service light came on, but the spa would still heat if I pressed the spa button for a heat boost. As I opened up the heater to see if there were diagnostic lights, all 3 at the back were on, then it went dead. Now all I get is the power light on, nothing else at all. Any suggestions, or do I need a new motherboard.... When I power down everything, wait 10 seconds, flip the main fuse box to turn it on, the top led on the left flashed on then off, and the power led is steady on, that is it. No other leds on at all....
