Water coming out of air inlet

Moved from here.
We had our pool and spa updated with new coping, tile and plaster. If we install the eyeball fittings in the spa, water squirts out of the 4 air intake valves on the exterior of the spa. If I remove the fittings the water does not squirt out of the air valves. I had a pool expert tell me that the new spillway (1 inch higher than the original) raised the water line and would need to be removed. I lowered the waterline to below the original spillway and water is still pouring out of the 4 air vents on the exterior of the spa. Does anyone know what could be wrong? It only happens when the eyeballs are installed inside the spa. Please help.

Welcome to the forum!
The eyeballs in the returns are increasing the flow restriction such that it is pushing water out of the air intakes. If the eyeballs are adjustable, open them as much as you can. If you have a variable speed pump, reduce the flow from the pump some and see if that changes.
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.

Thank you so much for the quick response. We have 16 Waterway 1/2" Orifice Eyeball Fittings inside the spa (10 ft square spa). If we put 1" orifice the water does not escape but the pressure is barely enough to feel like a spa. Are the exterior air vents required? One "expert" said to cover them up which also solves the problem, but I am sure they were put there for a reason? This all worked fine before the renovations. Am I going to need to remove the exterior stone to and restructure the air vents? I am willing to pay for some expert advice.

I assume the air vents tie into venturi jet bodies that the eyeballs screw into. Thus any bubbles in the spa come from the air vents.

You say it worked before. What has changed?

Then the system should work the same. I suspect during the remodel the plumbing was impacted or some of the jets got debris in them.
With that bubble action, do you have an air blower?

The forum accepts donations. You graciously have done that - thank you!

If you have an air blower, then you do not need the air inlets. Have you tried plugging them?
