So my pool is an in ground 18,000 gallon salt pool. My light finally has died. The light is a Pentair Water IntelliBrite 5g Color Changing LED. S/N 619827
I called the local pool store and asked about having it fixed and they said you don't fix them you replace them. They said the light itself is $1000 plus $150 for the hour of labor. I then asked if I purchased the light would they replace it and he said yes for the $150 an hour but no warranty if I purchased the light elsewhere.
I can buy what I believe to be a direct replacement light for anywhere from $600 - $850
So my questions are.
1. Should I just pay the pool store the full $1000 for the part to get the warranty? This is my first pool light replacement so I don't know how troublesome they can be.
2. Is there a better pool light I should consider? This one lasted 8 years so not bad. I would love to be able to turn my pool light on and off from my phone though instead of walking out to the pump and flipping the switch on and off until I get the color I want.
3. Any other pitfalls i should be worried about?
