Turning Bestway pool into salt water

You’ll still have to monitor and maintain your water quality with a salt water pool. I think you may be under the impression you can add salt to the water and then you don’t have to do anything else, which isn’t true.

The benefit to a salt water pool is that you can also buy a chlorine generator that will convert the salt to chlorine. no matter what, you’ll have to continuously add chlorine to the pool. The chlorine generator is an electronic piece of equipment that does this for you automatically. Otherwise you have to add liquid chlorine or chlorine tablets to your pool.

So the salt system helps with maintaining chlorine, but you still have to monitor other water parameters. You should read the Pool School section of this website for more info.

A properly sized saltwater chlorine generator will produce the daily dose of chlorine for your pool. The 7k gal intex swg should be big enough for this pool but u can always go with the larger 15k unit if your budget allows. The unit will go between the filter & the return to the pool so it is the last thing in line before water goes back into the pool. You may need some adapters as the hoses may not all be the same size but there are several available.
If you just dump salt in & do not have a swg you will just have a salty pool
