Pump in question: Pentair SuperFlo VS Variable Speed Pool Pump, 342001

Hello all. Read through numerous post, can’t find my answer, hope you all may assist. Motor has been in operation for 4 years, zero issues untill now. Pump was running at around 2,700 RPM for a couple hours, then noticed the pump turned off. The screen went completely blank, no lights, or anything. Motor is just dead. Still have 240v going to the motor. Took the board off to inspect for any burnt circuits, there were none. No corrosion with the exception of the backup battery. Did notice the underside of the cast aluminum cover has some burn marks/corrosion, but there is no source as to where it came from. I’m thinking it came from manufacture like that. I’ve tried a couple reset methods such as holding 1,2,3, quick clean for several seconds. Tried holding up, down, and #1, and still noting. Anyone have any advice?

Welcome to TFP :)

Do you have a surge protector on your panel before your pump breaker? These VS pumps are majorly sensitive to surges and will kill them faster than you can blink... Other than that I have no ideas on what happened...

I take surges very seriously, I have a whole house surge, AC system surge and a pump surge protector at my house :)

Thanks!! No surge protector. I know that could be the cause, but it was clear out that day, and no other equipment was affected. Pentair responded saying it’s more than likely a dead drive. Guess I’ll throw my old pump back in. Argh.
