You have to consider pool safety sightlines. If you have someone in the pool and people in the yard blocked by 3 foot high walls on two sides it creates a safety issue.

Also how will the walls affect sun in the pool?

I like open sight lines when in the pool and would feel confined with 3 foot walls blocking two sides.

Allen: I hear ya on the safety aspect. I believe most all adults would be inside the house or cabana with a clear site line to all of the pool.

I could definitely shorten the wall to look more like the following...

I was leaning towards this type of look with the finished product: [This is a local pool]

The wall in the pics is about 18” high. I would do it along the long side of the pool and not on the North side. That way you have a nice view out the pool to the long side of your property. Otherwise between the two walls and your spa you have walled in over 60% of your pool perimeter.

Allen: Agreed on the 36" height... I'll drop it down to 20" - which will not inhibit the view of the rest of my property. I really like the "knee-wall" look for this project... Also, at 20" it'll still function as overflow seating...

I'm going to update the pics in post #1. Thank you, Shannon

I would think you can create a cubby hole in the wall or cutout for the skimmer on the North side.

With 29K or water you need at least a 40K SWG and preferably a 60K SWG.

If you get the IntelliCenter bundle it comes with an IC40 40K cell. Most companies will swap the cell for a IC60 60K cell which you really should get.

Thanks. After doing a lot of reading on this forum, I’m starting to warm up to a Hayward system. What would I need in that line for 29K sized pool?

and, I’ve read plenty that I want to be oversized when it comes to SWGs.

thanks!

Jandys largest cell is 40K..

Pentair and Circupool have 60K cells.

I’ve understand that additional cells can be added in parallel. But only 1 can be controlled by automation. This could cause an short lifespan of the one that is always on and higher LT costs, I’m guessing.

Will Jandy or Hayward Automation control an Pentair or Circupool 60K? Thanks

Power requirement question:
When I built the house , I had an additional circuit added (stubbed in) at the back corner of the house. It’s a 50A 220v circuit.
Knowing I have 400K gas heat, probably a 3hp cap Pentair; Maybe a second smaller pump for small water features; all LED pool lighting; Robot cleaner; pool house will have a few 120v outlets; ceiling fan and some LED lighting -

Q: do I have sufficient power?

Your size pool does not require getting involved with multiple cells.

Jandy or Hayward Automation can turn a Pentair or Circupool 60K on and off with the filter/pump relay. All other SWG adjustments would need to be done at the cell.

Yes, 50 amps will be adequate without a Heat Pump. You will need to go easy on 120V outlets.

So, is A SW Cell just an on/off device? Even a Pentair Cell paired with a Pentair Controller? Thanks, Shannon

When a Pentair cell is paired with a Pentair controller the SWG % can be adjusted from the controller, the salt PPM is displayed, the controller can change SWG % for POOL mode and SPA mode, and you can adjust SWG % in 1% intervals instead of 20% intervals.

Allen: thanks for the response. Looking at your signature, you’re a Pentair kinda guy. You certainly have put your money where your mouth is 😎
