Welcome to TFP Joey.

When you get done with your pool can you make a housecall to @dianedebuda ? It looks like you have similar fiberglass pools with problems. Anything you can share about repairs on her thread would be appreciated.

I'm Joe and this winter I'm going to be DIY resurfacing pool. Its been repaired several times with aquatic fiberglass matt and resin and lining is pulling away from wall. (1/2 side of deep end).

Ok. so i get the pool drained and start to remove the fiberglass, when i get to bottom drain i find it full of sand, and no piping. plus it wasnt sealed to the plaster. so water would seep between plaster and fiberglass. Now im no expert but there is supposed to be a 2-3"(guessing) in pipe going to the filter correct? i dont know why 75feet is poping in my head, could it be the length to filter?

With an air chisel, i chiseled out the center of the missing bottom drain. well i had picture but to big to uplaod. anyways i found the bottom pipeing. as soon as i busted through almost 4 inches of plaster, dirty brown water came out. so now have to see condition of pipe to filter.

I've also got a question, once i remove fiberglass lining and expose the plaster underneath cant i wash it with tsp, etch it with 50/50 muriatic acid and water, power wash agaimn and use something like Dura-Rubber instead of breaking out all the old plaster to gunite and replastering? HUGE price difference
After reading documentation and instructions i cant see any reason i couldnt. But im far from an expert so i may have misunderstood. If i could get some clarification please

Keep on digging. Plaster is not structural so you have something behind it. Likely you will hit gunite.

Probably been replastered with a 2nd coat. Not to discourage you but there is nothing DIY that holds up for a finish other than plaster. If you wanna do this once amd be done for 15yrs+ chip it all out to the shell and get a pro to smack out a basic white plaster job. Will be cheap with it prepped. Imagine dealing with this labor again in a few years and having spent money on material too. My honest advice to anyone in this boat
