How are you storing your robots?

I store my robot in the garage on the caddy next to my air compressor after cleaning after each use. When I am not looking, these two have conversations and I have no idea what they are talking about.

Anyway, I do not like the idea of leaving a $1000 tool in the water all the time. Going on 5 years with my robot now, and it still looks and runs like new.

I use a tote from walmart, made a frame to keep brushes from being crushed while in storage.

Look at all you smart people! I think this is where we may have goofed with our robot. We didn't leave him in the pool and would just take it out and set it on the patio or concrete. The hubs thinks it got too hot when left out in the sun and fried some of the electronics. A very expensive lesson learned in pool equipment maintenance.

Last spring, since the kids were stuck at home for school with lots of extra downtime, we added a “wood shop” class! My son and I built a small deck box (and a swing to match - far side of the pergola) for our robot.. doubles as a lounger table. I keep the power unit in a drawer in my kitchen area. Works great!

Nice pergola. Are the plans for that available somewhere?

Thank you! No specific plans, as it was a custom build.. we wanted a more modern look with a privacy wall since we are on the street corner. It is 14’x18’ with tinted poly cover.
When I looked at your pergola and the street behind, I thought, "That looks like Houston." Sure enough. Mix of one and two story houses, all with front garages, except here in Katy, most have oversize pickup trucks parked outside the garages. The view to the side of your yard is just like mine, which is also a corner lot. We have the standard Houston area 6 ft wood fence, but just outside the fence we've put a row of nine Eagleston Hollies which are 11-12 feet tall and still another 2-3 years from when their canopies join to block the view. Nice job on the storage box, too, by the way.

So I was gonna make a little custom stand for mine to store upright and keep weight off the brushes. But then I noticed that Marina Pool sells all the parts for the dolphin caddy individually. I didn't need the full caddy since I have to go up and down stairs for my pool...so I didn't want to pay $150 for a caddy that was just gonna be utilized for storage in a shed. But I was able to just buy the plastic base of the caddy. Still kind of spendy at $50 but it's obviously a perfect fit for setting my robot on. And one kinda cool thing is they sell all the parts individually (even the hardware) so if you wanna have a full caddy later on you can buy everything else (costwise it's about the same as buying the full caddy) and assemble one.

I put mine in the pool when needed, and remove it when it is done. I prefer a cleaner look of the pool without a continuous cleaner in the pool. Actually I can't stand pools with cleaners always in. It is like what, 5 minutes to take it out and store it after use? My neighbor has a water powered cleaner and it is never removed from the pool.

Usually I put it in the shed when the season is done but last year I left it under my deck stairs with no issues.

Can you link to what you purchased? Sounds like a great idea and my shed (where we I will store the robot) is only 40' from the pool.

I have to ask, we just experienced swimming in a pool that had the robot running and no less than 6 times did the robot get my feet. Is this not common place? Granted, this was a really small FG pool we were in.
