Sand Base Eroding Away?

My above ground pool has been installed for just over a month and after a large rain storm I noticed that it appears that some of the sand must be getting pulled away from under the liner. Any thoughts on how to correct this? I put gravel all around the pool to encourage good drainage, but perhaps the drainage is too good and getting under the pool. Should I fill it in with top soil instead? The deck is in the process of being built and I am running of out time if I want this corrected before it gets really hard to do.

Any thoughts?

I don’t think putting down topsoil will help whatever is happening with your base. It will just hold moisture by the pool and promote rusting.

Do you have water coming from uphill washing it out? I would try to figure out where that water is coming from before anyone can recommend a solution.

Well I would either put in a retaining wall if it is a big slope or maybe you just need some drain tile around your pool (under the gravel) to divert all the water past your pool. Maybe a couple pictures of the whole area where your pool is sitting and where the water is coming from will help some others give some pointers. I back filled my pool with gravel and it is about 2 ft buried on one side. I also don't get any water running in that part of my yard so I didn't put any drainage under the gravel.
