Valve repair

Hi all, I need to replace a valve that broke last year and figured now is a good time to do it. You can see the broken wings on the valve in the attached pic. I'm looking for suggestions and recommendations on how to go about doing this. I'm afraid I might have to rebuild it all completely from the 2" lines coming from the skimmers. Anyone have another alternative? Also looking for recommendations on the type of valve, this setup is only 2 seasons old so clearly those valves aren't meant to last. Thanks in advance for taking a look and any help.
Jason

Welcome to TFP.

Best to just rebuild that section using diverter valves. We always recommend not using ball valves for the reasons you are discovering.

You may want to replace all 8 ball valves and then the diverter valves should be trouble free for many years.

Any recommendations on some pictures of what this should look like? RDspaguy, you mention horizontal, so should I incorporate 90 deg bends coming off the flexible pipe and then the diverter valves after that? Are all diverter valves created equal? Most of my stuff is Pentair so assuming I should use Pentair valves...?

Really appreciate all the here everyone.

There really is no reason to fix anything at all. You can still turn that valve with a pipe wrench. Normally that is a "set and forget" valve anyway so not like you need to turn it on/off frequently. Long term that plumbing is a mess and will require time and money to do properly. Valves are @ $40 each and looking at that picture, you physically don't have enough room to re-plumb that with proper valves anyway. IOW it is a major rework.

I always use ball valves. Jandy valves are for diverters. If they are level with the pipes going to the equipment they will drain out when winterized, not hold water at the ball. In theory, this should give you fewer long term issues with the valves. I can't say for certain, I have not had to replace valves that I have plumbed in that I can recall. I always mount them horizontal whenever possible.
Your suctions will be tricky, thats alot of valve to squeeze in to that short space. Return has plenty of play room.

My eyes are as old as the rest of me, and I am on a phone. Honestly, I can't make out the problem from the photo. If it is just a broken handle, then get a new handle. Those things break all the time. I thought you had a broken valve.
