Hi

Our pool builder came up with this design for our yard. We like the unique shape. It's about 13' wide and 28' at its longest. Probably looking at 3' - 5' in terms of water depth. We live in a cold climate and only have about 5 months a year of swimming weather. I think one skimmer is enough in a pool this size? We could go full L Shape but like the uniqueness and a spot to have a couple of loungers in the sun. Smaller yard so small pool.

That sure is a neat design.

I would NOT go 3' deep though. Hold a tape measure up to where 3' is and see what you think then. I would go at least 3'5" AND make sure it is WATER depth (water should come to the middle of the skimmer face).

The water depth has been a big debate here. lol. I also think 3' is too shallow. The PB said "The swimming pool industry all use the same wall heights so that its standardized (3’4”). With the waterline being 4” or so below the top of wall, you would get 3’ of water. If your friends have a vinyl pool, I’m certain they would have a 3’4” wall because its standard from one company to another. " He also said no additional cost to go to 3.5' , there will be a slope off the bottom step though. Thinking we should do this, and less slope to get to 5'. I would love a deep end but we don't have the room. Debate whether 5' is enough for 'light' jumping. Probably head to the local rec pool this weekend to check out water depths.

Our pool is 27' feet long. We went from 3.5' to 6' and the slope isn't bad at all.
We actually have the 3.5' depth at around 9 ft of the length of pool, slope down, and have 6' at around 6 ft of length of the pool
It works really well and you have an extra foot compared to our pool.

Trying ti give you an idea of what we did. See pic. Orange is 3.5' and blue is 6'.

Also, our sun shelf is on the same level as the second step. Deep enough for the little kids to play. I think its 18 inches deep

Thank-you. Very helpful to see it drawn out like this. To get to 3.5', do you have a slope off the bottom step? How do you find the 6' for jumps/cannonballs....?
