Hello

Looks like I have a leak for sure:

1) Filled water last evening at 7 PM
2) Pump ran in cracked position (main + skimmer) for 1 hour this AM
3) At 6 AM, level was down an inch from 7 PM last night
4) Refilled water at 7 AM
3) At 2 PM, the level is down about 3/4 inch

The pump ha been off since 6 AM this morning so have lost 3/4 inch with pump off
I am assuming it is a skimmer leak.

Any tests I can do with pump on or off to narrow the problem down?

Thanks

I am assuming it is a skimmer leak.

Why are you assuming that? Leaks can occur in any part of the plumbing.

If the pad is not wet, then it is likely underground somewhere and you might need a leak detection company to find it. You can try dye to see if it is getting sucked in near the skimmer somewhere.

Thanks

So it turned out to be a leak around one of the return jets based on a dye test which is now fixed. The skimmer dye test was good.

Now, Instead of losing more than an inch in 10 hours overnight, I lost less than 1/2 an inch in that period last night to Sunday morning

I turned the pump on for the last 5 hours and have not lost any water since then

Any tests I can do now to narrow down the issue?

Thanks

Thats still to much water lost. Do as i said above and you will narrow it down to pipe or liner issues. I would guess if no lost with pump on then you have a leak between the skimmer and pump. If so then once all the water is sucked from the ground you will start to see air in the basket.
