Maytronics iO cleaner

This seems to be happening more and more in the industries with companies releasing MVP (minimally viable products). Rush to get it to market, let your user community test it and then hot fix it. This only works if the company is very customer focused and can make updates very quickly and often. Let’s see how Maytronics deals with this.

I really would have liked to see a better review. There were just enough new features to make me want to upgrade my M500 but not unless they all work really well and that does not seem to be the case.

I have a M600. The pick me up function on the app is hard to use. I had to wait a good 3-5 mins for the robot to figure it out. You can set the pick me up to the quick start which means if you hold the power button on the power supply for 5 seconds it will enable the pick me up feature. I haven’t tested if it’s more or less reliable.

Did you see my review of the M600? I have a long, boring but detailed video review. As well as a video of all the app features that don't work.

I would wait and see if they sort out the current t app related issues.

I'll stay pretty much out of the debate but joyfulnoise is asking the right question.......can it clean the pool?

In the video I noticed after it did that slick mapping, they quickly cut away when it approached that ledge on either side or the steps. I have yet to see any cleaner that ALWAYS handles those obstacles correctly.....this one seems no better.

Now to the mapping. I can't figure out how it always knows where it is. When it falls over backwards going up the steps or over that ledge, how does it re-orient itself?

I am a HUGE fan of robots but I would rather pay for real cleaning power like the commercial models than tech gadgets that seem ineffective to me.

The M600 does clean the pool quite well. I am told it has some kind of sensors on it but no idea if it really knows where it is in the pool .

Where did you hear about this feature? I've been talking with Maytronics from a whike a out this feature and they never mentioned it was on the control unit.

Is this something that is set up from the factory? What indication is there that it is in pick me up mode? I'll have to try it next time it's in the pool.

I used it tonight and it works. Set the quick start to pick me up. Got the robot out first try. Go to setting > QuickStart. See pics below.

OK thank you for the pics!

Turns out youu have to be connected to the robot for that option to show. It wasn't there when I first looked as the control unit wasn't plugged in.

It is there now. I'll try it when it finishes cleaning.

Good to know it works. I'm surprised tech support didn't suggest this as a temporary solution. I'm guessing they did not know about it

It uses LIDAR. When first started, it rotates and measures the distances to the various walls obstructions etc. With the map stored, if it loses tack of where it is, it rotates and matches it's current position to the distances from the walls on the map. The newer high end robotic household vacuums do the same thing. This technology has been around for about 5 years at least the the household vacuums.

I was in contact with Maytronics today and they said they have seen my videos and are in the process of making an update to fix all the issues and add the features that were missing.

Interesting. I was told the sensors in the M600 are a step up from the S300i etc. It did detect my deep end pool stairs when it was doing a "pick me up" which was interesting to see it start to climb, see the stairs, move over and then continue to come to the surface.

How does that work for the deep end if it is put in the shallow end, and how does that work for curved pools or L shaped pools if put in the deep end? Is it always scanning and updating maybe?

Now I just wish there were more buttons to program on the unit itself.

Attached is a screen shot of the map created by my robotic vacuum. Every time it runs the map is updated. Something like that for a pool would be wonderful.

My Huskavarna automower does the same thing but it uses GPS with a overlay of a map of your property. It also has a sim card and runs on its own cell network.

I don't really know own if this is needed for a pool cleaner, it's cleaning a much smaller area than a yard or house.

My pool is 1500sq ft! I wish my M600 had the new IO tech. He gets confused a bit on my rounded out pool.
