How worried should I be about this

New pool owner, how concerned should I be about a handful of spots like this in my pool? It looks like I can see cement in the “holes” as pictured.

It’s a 30k gallon rectangular pool. There are a handful of spots like this, and a few more that look like they were possibly patched. I haven’t noticed water loss or anything like that.

1. Do I need to do something about this immediately?
2. Can I patch them short term?
3. If I need to resurface the whole thing, where do I start?
4. The discoloration pictured (besides the “hole” - is this because it was previously painted and has deteriorated as I hear paint does?
5. Can you tell what type of pool this is? Everything feels like cement I guess, but I don’t think that’s a thing from my research.

That looks like an end of life plaster to me. I'd ride out the season and try to get a crew to plaster this "off season". Not that it'd be any cheaper but it might be easier to find a good crew that won't take forever.

Welcome to the forum!
You say new pool owner, but I assume, this is an older pool, correct?
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry and consider reviewing the entire Pool School eBook.
Yes, older pool. I’ve read pretty much every TFP article and fired my pool guy the other day. I have 2 pools and have been taking care of the smaller one successfully for a month or so. Just starting on this bigger one. I’m still bringing chemicals into balance. CYA was off the charts due to the pool guy using tablets all the time.
