Buying house with pool: damage on steps, how to repair? (pic)

I am looking at buying a house with a pool. The one I am looking at now has damage to the steps (see pic below). How bad does this look? Might it be leaking from there? How hard is it to repair?

The damage appears to be more cosmetic than anything. Perhaps there is an acrylic repair product that is compatible with what appears to be fiberglass steps. Not my area of expertise. I'll ping @PoolguyinCT to se if he has any thoughts. Have a nice weekend.

Looks similar to this thread - Stair Repair

Question is if there is erosion under the stair treads and you lost support in that area. In that case surface repair will not last.

look at the whole top rim of the stair that is up against the concrete. that is leaking steadily and theres a ton of erosion and issues underneath them. I would budget for a full replacement of the stairs and a new liner, and it will also require the deck to be cut into and replaced. 10k would be lowside, 15k the highside. just patching or repairing will only buy you some time, they have been repaired before, and by someone who had no clue

I think that the epoxy will work. Just put it on thick and wide.

You can build up with a fiberglass repair kit if you need some structural support.

Maybe cover the fiberglass repair with the epoxy after the fiberglass dries.

I don't think that I would do a major renovation for a crack in the steps.

Wait, you are talking about my pool or the one linked, "Stair Repair" by EDW?

Another pic of said pool:

the pic posted in the top of this thread has 2 repair spots each on a different step. that tells you its hollow underneath and has been leaking, id bet its leaking right now nothing to hold water back. water creates erosion, there are voids growing under the pool steps. if you look closely at pics on a desktop you see spider cracks everywhere on those steps above waterline. sooner than later they will need to be replaced or dealt with. if your buying this house get a chunk of money in escrow, and the liner is bleached out in spots, so its got some years on it.

thats the angle I would take as a purchaser. if its a dealbreaker and you want the house as is make repairs, you can get a glass guy in there to rebuild those stairs better than new and core the steps to fill them up

If I was the seller I wouldn’t make any huge concession. After all, every bloody real estate agent will tell you a pool adds zero value to a house. Steps are rarely replaced unless it’s an insurance job. If this house is in an area where winter freezing occurs then if there was any standing water under those steps they would be big time cracked them by now. Normally the top two steps have zero support anyways.

If I was the buyer and wanted a pool, I wouldn’t let the steps bother me. As stated a glass guy can make those look brand new.
