Speedstir not stirring

Hi TFPers,
So my Speedstir must be wanting a raise (LOL). Not showing the same work performance/ethic. I turn it on and it spins for a second, then it will stop and the stir bar just quickly twitches back-and-forth. Despite replacing the batteries to no avail, I’m thinking it could be the stir bar. Anyone else have any experience with this situation and want to chime in please?
 
New batteries always worked for me.

Be sure the bar is clean. It can hang up on the inside of the vial if anything is on it.
 
Changed the batteries again to not avail. Cleaned the stir bar well using diluted rubbing etoh solution. Nothing.

Then, got my 5 yr old twins involved so I could get them practicing hypothesizing why it would not work and a solution. Very fun to try all their methods which included hitting it, trying different amounts of water, tilting the sample chamber, hitting the sample chamber off while it was the speedstir was on, putting the speedstir in different positions and on different surfaces, pushing the on/off button repeatedly. Nothing, Until finally they proposed "Pappa, you just have to push the on/off button really hard." What do you know? It worked.

So, let's see if I can duplicate it, or some serious hitting will be in store for this speedstir.
