New build in Spring, TX.

I am asking if the stone for the decking is there yet? It will be in large crates that a machine will have lift/move. When it gets there you will want to look through it and make sure it is what you want and look for any that might not fix your look.

Ohhhh I see. No ma'am it's not here yet. We went out and picked out a couple of pallets of the flagstone we are going to have for coping. That has not been delivered yet. The rest of the deck will be the spray deck/cool touch with pavers that we already own mixed in. Will be inspecting the flagstone as soon as it's here if not on the truck. If it's not 2" I'll save him the trouble of unloading it!

Good planning ahead. Lets go one step further.........pick through the box when it gets there. There are going to be some pieces you will not want to use due to chips, holes too big, color off, etc. Set those aside so they do not get used. If one side is okay then set it up for being cut.

Ha! I was planning on it...only because I've seen you post this on other "New Build Threads".

Plumbing is done. Tile and stone have been confirmed for a Monday pick up and begin installing that and coping pending any weather setbacks. Lots of rain in the forecast so we will see. Going to have some bling on the hot tub and toe tiles so prepare yourself Kim.

Finally made a point to get some photos of our equipment to post here for anyone to pick out anything that may have done..."too quickly"...

I recognize that I have zero background in the set-up department of this stuff and want to bring anything in question up to our PB if we need to.

Last picture is I think a power cable that I have zero idea where it came from or what it could be used for. Any idea?

Thanks everyone. Supposed to start on tile and coping tomorrow.

I THINK that might be the power cord for the pump but am not sure. The red tag address suction so that leads me to believe I MIGHT be right.

You are going to have to play twister to get that filter apart and try to do anything with it :( Just make sure you do not hurry when stepping there and working on any thing on the pad.

Do you have a light by the equipment pad? If not see if you can add one. You will thank me on the night you need to run out there for something!

Good thinking. It was laying in the grass off to the side and I said, "What the heck, something should need this?!".

As far as the filter goes, will just have to be careful and maybe "forget how to do it" every time father or father-in-law is over and ask for help ;).

None of it is bolted down yet, will look at positioning tomorrow. There is a light over there now, you can't see it in the picture. Large flood light. I have plans to build a small awning of some sort to protect the pad from elements (not sure when). But I do have some light over there for now that should be good. I'm more ready for them to be done with the pool so I can continue with my projects (awning, landscaping, pergola cover, gutters, extra drainage, etc..). We will be ready to swim, but there will be so much more to do when pool is done and they are out of my way, ha!

Maddie,

The pump you don't want is the SVRS version, the one shown is fine... maybe??

I know some Jandy systems can control the older IntelliFlo VS pumps... I am not sure if they can control the newer one that the OP has. It has both the VS and VF functions.

And YES.. the cable connects the pump's control panel to the automation system.

I butchered trying to quote multiple people just now...

Yippee -
I think this panel rotates? I'll have to take a better look at it on the WWW or when I'm off this week...good looking out. Glad I posted these pictures.

Jimbo -
Good deal on the cable being useful. Someone would have needed it sooner or later! I think PB looked in to if they talk to each other before fully committing to my request for a VS over a single speed, and said they do/can...they better!

G,

We will see won't we.. :) Please let us know how it turns out, as it will help others..

In the back of my mind I seem to remember that Jandy people were having a problem with the dual VS and VF pump, but I can't find it.. Could be I'm just old as dirt..

Jan. 28th - Dig
Jan. 29th - Steel and plumbing "stub-out"
Jan. 30th - Gunite and “DONT TOUCH THE POOL KIDS!”
Jan. 31st - early clean up, you can touch it now, began digging and laying some pipe
Feb. 1st - Plumbing, gas lines, conduit
Feb. 3rd - Most boring Super Bowl ever, glad I was working.
Feb. 4th - Coping/Stone/Tile

Tile, coping and stone guys showed up today. I'll refer to them as The Stoners for short. They cut the slabs up and lined the pool/spa with them. Looks like we have good weather for not having to keep the gunite wet and keep The Stoners from working. Lots of overcast, occasional sprinkle and light wind. Perfect for working outside all day. I see a lot of my dad in Enrique (Lead Stoner of the two-man show). The guy is moving slow but efficient, and expecting perfection which makes me super excited for when it comes to installing the tile....this can only mean one thing...

...Chick-fil-A for lunch tomorrow!

I'd say the steel benders were still most impressive. Stoners are most appreciated due to their strives towards perfection. He's doing great and taking his time for the chiseled edges and the thick flagstone just looks awesome.

Bonus Rant:
We have only had one "bump" in the road which is really small and I wasn't going to bother with posting it on here...but who doesn't like some drama?

I've seen is as my job to oversee the existing yard-irrigation so we can take care of it ourselves instead of adding any more $$$ to the pool build. It's simple to me and I don't mind it at all. When the guys were digging trenches for the plumbing last week they hit one of the sprinkler water lines, no big deal. I also had to remove part of a line before the equipment pad was poured. My intentions were to saw it off and cap it when they dug for pool piping. Sure enough it was there ready to cut and cap. They were working in the area so I gave plumber the cap and pointed to it, he said he would cement it on there and fix the one he broke. It really is no problem at all, anyone reading this can do it with a simple YouTube search and he had all of what he needed to do it at his convenience. Sure enough when they were done, they threw the dirt back on pipes and that was it. I went back and dug up the two spots he said he would fix and sure enough, no cap, and cracked pipe still sitting there waiting to gush out water when I run the sprinklers (in March/April?). This is seriously an easy fix, but the fact he just dumped dirt right back over something he said he'd do is was ticked me off. Told PB the situation and that he said he'd fix it and never did. PB was surprised because this is his main plumbing guy. My only issue to make this something to post about, or bring to PB attention, is because there is the potential of running irrigation, seeing all of this water, thinking it MAY be pool equipment since the uncapped spot was AT the pad and blowing this way out of proportion over a .35 cent 1/2 pvc cap (that I provided) that could have prevented the whole thing.

Wow, you are making good progress. Shame about that plumbing guy. In many cases, no one will do as good a job on something as you (the owner) - as long as we are capable of course. Good you caught it. Also good thing you'll be testing your own water soon. :p

Heck yeah. I feel the same way about getting my car washed. I'll let the car wash take care of the outside for $4 and saving me 45+ minutes washing it. But no one touches or cares about the inside as much as I do so I don't even bother.

As ready as any new pool owner can be! I will say, after seeing horror posts of huge delays (rock, HOA, weather, etc.) we are extremely appreciative on how fast it is going.

Honestly felt like a complainer by posting about it just because it’s an easy fix for me. But it saved some “freaking out” down the road and avoided a witch hunt for a leak that’s not even associated with the pool. And showed PB I’m paying attention to small things I guess?

Day 2 of stone work. It’s starting to look really nice now that it’s getting some color and character.

Everyone is hoping to finish today due to cold front and rain on Thursday and be ready for decking on the next best day.

Decking means less mud and we can begin planning landscaping and rerouting some irrigation. Mainly less mud...Holy cow the boys can’t stay out of it. We may need to leave a small section in the corner for a mini-construction site when it’s all said and done.
