Motor broken

So.....just before the big heat wave, pump stops working! It tripped breaker, and after resetting that it still doesn’t turn on. There’s power at control board after resetting breaker, but pump doesnt start. I haven’t ever changed a pump so stopped by pool store to see what a new pump runs and what a service call would be. They are scheduling at least two weeks out, and pump wont be in for a “few days”. I don’t want to wait 2 weeks without a pump, so after watching a few youtube videos and reading some threads on here, i take old pump off. The thing that stands out most is that the wires are so brittle with some bare spots (far left wire in pic) by the connection to the motor. Definitely looks like they overheated along the way. I am no electrician, but seems like the wiring needs to be replaced too. I have pool pilot swg, and theres conduit running from the bottom of pool pilot panel to the motor.
Am i correct in thinking that wiring needs replacement as well? If so, how difficult is it to replace? Anything else i should be concerned with? I have done a bit of interior electrical work.....but really dont want to cause more problems by doing this wrong!!

That wiring MUST be replaced !!! If you are not familiar with wiring codes and methods, don't attempt it at all !!! Get a qualified electrician to do it. Remember, one OOPS, I Forgot that, didn't notice that, etc. CAN BE FATAL !!!!!!!!!!! (too often repair video's make it seem simply without HAMMERING in the DANGERS !!!!!!!!!)

With that said, If your new pump has a corded plug on it, you might be able to use an extension cord TEMPORARILY to get you by till someone can get out to wire it up properly. Obviously, you would be bypassing the "pool pilot panel" controls, but it would keep your water circulating and filtering. (Extension cord should be as short as possible and AT LEAST 12ga, 10ga if possible)
