Hey all,

I figured I should post something instead of always lurking lol. I have learned a lot from this site and hope to gain more knowledge for our first pool build and the art of taking care of this thing!

We have tried many times to find the right company that meets expectations and budget and decided maybe the only way to acheive that is to do it ourselves, well not entirely ourselves but get bids for each phase and hire each trade.

So we are building a 34’x18’ freeform pool with a 7’ Baja shelf 3 1/2’ to 7’ deep end pool, with a 18’ raised spa. The back wall will be raised 24” high to allow 3 sheer descents. Pool is 110 lineal feet 562sq ft and spa is 60sq ft.

We are just in shock that it is all actually starting and we will have our own pool to hang out in very soon. Excavating actually starts tomorrow!

Here’s the plans and I will add more as this develops.

Also I picked up the pool equipment all Pentair; IntelliFlo pump 011056 for pool/spa, whisperflo 011515 for sheer descents, MasterTemp 400k, 420 sq ft clean and clear, Easy Touch 8SC-IC40 pool/spa combo with screen logic, 3 pool globrites, 1 spa globrite, dolphin nautilus robot cleaner, and some transformers.

Well here is the design.

How much fun this will be when it is DONE! LOL getting there..........not as much fun but it will be worth it!

I like everything you did with your design. Well done.

What kinds of depths are you thinking?

A water hating lab??? Well I never heard of such  When we first got Jolly Mon at 10 weeks we took him to a local "dog lake". We left him by the towel with a couple of friends so we could take a dip in the water. Heard laughter from the shore and turned around to see Jolly heading to us swimming like he was born to do it. So yeah you do have a "rare" breed for sure!

I think contrary to popular belief not all Labs are water lovers...at first. Just like anything else, they have to learn about water from a parent or person, but once they do they usually love it! I have a mini-schnoodle and he doesn't like the water either. But I think it is because we got him as a puppy in the month of January so we weren't able to introduce him to a baby pool right away. I still take him in to cool him off, but he isn't a fan, lol!

Your build looks great, can't wait to see it come to life!

Pool is coming along. I took your advice and measured depths, widths, and lengths and it all checked out slightly bigger to allow for gunite. Pool is now steeled, plumbing has started, and electrical soon. I’m on the schedule for Shotcrete on Friday so hopefully we can finish everything this week and pass inspection!

Happy to hear that! Is there any way you can be there for the shotcrete? A lot of times they will have ideas or concerns. You want to be the one to decide how it turns out. You will also be able to catch it if something if "off"...........one pool they were turning a beach entry into a splash pad with a step............PO saw them doing it and was able to stop them in time to redo it the correct way in the plans that sat out for all to see and use
