Getting Ready For Pool Build in Northern California!

Kim and Rebecca- I was able to get my discount code and testing kit is on the way!

The pool is filling as we speak (since yesterday evening) and I anticipate it will be finished by noon today! It is so pretty! The builder told us to start brushing when the equipment gets started up (which is tomorrow). Is that typical? I was wondering if I should start brushing once the pool is full. - Helen

You can start brushing when it is full if you want to. Just know it will get cloudy and be a little green at first. This is VERY normal. It will all settle out as the plaster cures and the water gets balanced.

That water looks awesome! LOVE how the pretty tile really shines and blings out!

Have you do any of the tests yet? There is a set of videos showing how to do the tests. Look in my siggy below for the link to the site. You should go to the home page here at TFP and find the extended test directions on the left hand side of the page.

Here are some small tips:

-The FC test may turn back to pink if you let it sit. Ignore it.

-TA test-it will "flash" the color. Keep going until it holds is.

-CYA-GLANCE at the dot only. Do not look/stare at it. GLANCE only.

Let us know how it goes and if you need any help.

Thank you CaptainCannonball- I have a hard time staying out. I even like to just sit and stare at it! I reminds me of when my kids were first born, my neck hurt from holding them and just staring down at them in amazement! This time it's the pool! ;)

Kim, thank you so much for all of your help! So the pool company has been maintaining our pool (for 30 days). I have not had a chance to do the Test due to work but my husband and I plan to start on Wednesday. (due to work and kids schedules)

So our pool has been looking crystal clear and on Thursday evening we had our friends over. My friend's toddler had thrown several large handfuls/clumps of clay dirt intro our pool throughout the night, some were prevented and many were not. The next morning I was so sad I could have cried! When I brushed there were clouds of dust that reminded me of Pig Pen from the peanuts and the water looks cloudy. The particulates are so fine I guess it is hard them to get filtered out. The technician is coming today to help us. I'm not very happy though!:brickwall::brickwall::rant::rant:

OH my! I have a sad for you! I also have an idea......get an old tshirt and put it in the skimmer basket make sure the water can still flow freely. This should help filter out the fine stuff. You can buy skimmer socks but this is cheap and easy.

Do you have a manual vacuum? You can leave the filter off overnight and let the stuff settle then vacuum it up with the tshirt helping the filter.

 I hope it clears up fast.
