    Pump Motor Buzz

Thanks to those who replied to my thread. Took the motor in to a motor repair shop yesterday and it turned out to be a bad switch. Replaced the switch and she came alive. Thanks again for your help.

    Pump Motor Buzz

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't able to figure out how to use the ohm testing feature on the meter but I did run a continuity test. I applied the test leads to the tabs where the two yellow wires were connected and I got continuity (buzz), the meter read "Shrt". So it appears the capacitor...

    Pump Motor Buzz

Having a difficult time testing the capacitor. I took out what I believe is the capacitor (P/N 610807-002) but I don't see a + or - on the capacitor. I've never tested a capacitor before so I went online and it tells me I should see a + & - on the capacitor, I see nothing. The capacitor came...

    Pump Motor Buzz

mas985, Thank you for the reply. When I apply power (220) to the motor it makes a buzzing sound but it doesn't trip the circuit breaker. For what it's worth the shaft rotates freely. I'll check the capacitor as you suggested.

    Pump Motor Buzz

Made a stupid mistake yesterday. I replaced the seals in my Hayward Super Pump and when I reassembled it I didn't realize the white 120/230 connector wasn't pressed firmly on the 220 tabs and when I put power (220) to the motor it buzzed and tripped the circuit breaker. When I opened it up I...

    Pool Pilot Electrical Installation Help

Purchased a new Pool Pilot Digital 40K SWG (DIG-220) and plan on installing it soon. My question has to do with wiring/powering the unit. Currently I have one (1) 230 line running to the equipment pad, this line is providing power to a Hayward Super Pump (1 ½ HP), Raypak heater and Hayward...

I need help making a decision

waste, Thank you for the response. Other then not closing a pool before and/or installing a plug, I have no reason to believe there not installed correctly. I placed them in the 1 1/2" PVC and tightened them down by hand; I would say there is probably 1/8” of rubber bulging from the around...

I need help making a decision

Our IG pool was completed in August, we live in the Northeast and I’m in the process of closing our pool for the first time. I’m having a hard time deciding how much water I should leave in the pool? First off, I will be installing a safety cover and the manufacture requires no less then...

    New Pool Owner Closing Questions

Our pool was completed a few months ago and this is my first time closing. I’m just about done closing the pool but I want to be sure of a few things. 1. I shouldn’t reinstall the two (2) pump plugs? 2. I shouldn’t reinstall the filter drain plug? 3. We have a Jandy valve running in...

    Equipment Operating in Cooler Temperatures?

Thanks for the reply. We live in NE PA so the temperatures are starting to drop. Our pool was just completed in August so the equipment hasn't run in cooler weather until now. We were running the heater up until a week or so ago so the water temperature hasn't been this low until now. I know...

    Equipment Operating in Cooler Temperatures?

Is it my imagination or has our pool equipment gotten louder as the ambient and water temperature has dropped? Today the pool temperature was 62 degrees and the ambient temperature was around 50 degrees. It seems the pump is a little noisier and I'm now hearing a rattling sound coming from the...

    First Pool Closing (Part 2)

Well I did a trial run today to see if my 4HP compressor had what it took to blow out my MD, it did. Our plumbing consists of two main drains (both drains are connected to one 2” line), two skimmers (each on their own 2” line), two wall returns (both returns are connected to one 2” line)...
