I've been able to use some of the Modbus and Jandy commands with my EVO225, but it doesn't seem to respond at all to Pentair or Hayward commands. I'm trying to get it to interface with nodejs-poolcontroller. But I fear I may have to abandon that and run in a different direction.

@Jsherman If you do go for the VGreen Evo, confirm that you get one that supports automation. They were sold for a while with that part of their firmware not working and a dead RS-485 port. I've not been able to extract any more information from the company that doesn't have any support...

Following this for when the board comes available. My last communication with a tech down in FL was installing them for high profile customers back in May. He's since gone radio silent. I was just about to pull the board off and see about intercepting the motor commands to spin my own board...

The RS485 port is dead. There is no software on the onboard microcontroller to interpret signals from it. I'm working on reverse engineering the PCB now to get a bead on what exactly stands in our way.

That Boost-Rite looks pretty good. Found it for ~$60 more than the direct LA01N replacement. 40% power reduction seems to be a break even for me at 4.5 months given my existing runtime and electrical costs.

That would involve plumbing, electrical, and additional attention that I can't afford to part with. Plus its far more expensive.
