CH is high, but so are temperatures

the manual regeneration process would take about an hour every two weeks? i definitely see the value in plumbing the fill valve to my softener. i'll get in touch with a plumber and see what i can do. if this gets me to a situation where i only need to drain every other year it pays for itself in...

CH is high, but so are temperatures

thanks @mknauss! I do have a softener for the house thats not plumbed in a convenient way to get to the pool. I was considering running a hose from my first floor bath tub but I'd have to leave a door cracked for quite awhile and in this heat that'd be a bit silly. I was doing some research on...

CH is high, but so are temperatures

Hello, I have been procrastinating a drain for far too long this year and am not sure how to proceed. My overall pH / FC /CYA balance is doing ok this year, but I did not drain in March as usual and have reached a CH of 675. Pool math says I should drain 33% of the pool, but from my reading...

Drain or Partial Drain then SLAM

Apologies if this is mis-categorized as it kind of crosses several categories. I typically expect to drain my pool once a year as my fill water is hard and after about a year my CH rises to >600ppm. I'm right at that level today. However, Las Vegas has also introduced new water billing rates...

this was the solution! when i did the factory reset it must have reset all my timer settings and speeds and i didn't put it all together until you shared this. thanks so much for all your help!

Tristar VS 950 pump drive overload

alright, just made some fresh connections and eliminated the twisted pair wiring from all related connections. when i turned the breaker back on, the pump powered itself on and was running at 2000rpm. when i pressed low speed on the controller, the pump increased to 2200rpm, and returned to...

Tristar VS 950 pump drive overload

the preset speeds are programmable, the pump itself can cycle through all of them and is responding appropriately to RPM adjustment (e.g. 2000RPM was not enough for the in-floor cleaners, i bumped it up to 2200). @guinness i've attached a photo at the panel. its ugly. is there any particular...

Tristar VS 950 pump drive overload

the input 2 wires seemed firmly inserted but i did push them a bit more just to be sure. no change in behavior. i factory reset the pump settings and placed it into standalone mode. the pump will go into low speed when dictated by the inbuilt pump scheduling timer (currently running at 2000rpm)...

Tristar VS 950 pump drive overload

Yep, when I turn the power on to the pump it says "Relay Control Initializing..." I've attached the wiring at the pump drive just for posterity.

Tristar VS 950 pump drive overload

just tested with a multimeter, relays seem to be working as expected, with an audible click when i activate either "Filter" or "Low Speed." Any other suggestions?

Tristar VS 950 pump drive overload

finally took it apart today, there was a little bit of debris in there but nothing too concerning. impeller and diffuser look good and seals seem relatively new. drive shaft spins freely. put it back together and still get the same error. since i first posted, the pump has stopped following...

Tristar VS 950 pump drive overload

Hello! I noticed my pump was running louder than i expected the other day during my low speed cycle, and after investigating i noticed it was running at 3150 rpm and the event log mentioned a Drive Overload on last power cycle. The pump is relay controlled from my aqualogic board so adjusting...

    More CYA?

FYI i bumped my CYA up to "somewhere between 70 and 80" and things seem to be holding much steadier. I am still adding liquid chlorine when I have bather load but had great results (maintained acceptable FC) when I left for ~6 days just by raising my FC with liquid chlorine to just short of slam...
