    Wrong pressure gauge

Wasn't thinking and I bought the wrong pressure gauge for my Hayward filter. It takes one with a rear screw in adapter and I bought one with a side adapter. Any problem if I use it as is? I think I should be OK the dial will just face the side instead of facing straight out. Came to the experts...

Pentair 460775 400,000 BTU Natural Gas

I have had this heater for about 7 1/2 years. Recently would not fire up. Turns out our local neighborhood pack rats built a nest and helped themselves to the wiring for dinner. We live on a desert open space and pack rats are a way of life. Thought I had them contained but they found this...

    Algae in bird baths

I basically live in the desert. While it is hot and dry pretty much everywhere this summer it is hot here all the time and drier than usual. I live on a nature preserve and while I shouldn't put out water for the javelinas, coyotes, deer and bobcats I would like to help the birds. Our small (5...

    Pool water not perfect

Yes, two main drains in the deep end of the pool and one skimmer weir. I may be able to divert around the pop ups with some of the jandy valves. By normal returns you mean the nozzle type returns on the side of the pool to foster skimming by creating circulation? Yes, three of them.

    Pool water not perfect

Doesn't seem to skim that well at 1500. Maybe the popups steal some of the flow? I don't know. I think a run of 24/7 at 1500 rpm is a good idea, will try that

    Pool water not perfect

Been using TFP method for over 8 years. 9500 gallons, FC and PH and Alkalinity and CH all within range but due to our hot summers, splash out (two swimming dogs) and monsoon rains I keep the CYA at 60-65 in the summer and let it drift down over winter. A few months ago I got tired of the dog...

    Skimmer Weir broken Pentair/StaRite 8650-4

The other day my skimmer weir broke and floated into the pool . Looks like the tabs that attach it to the hinge have worn down, not surprising after 15 year s or so. Not easy to access the screws but don't want to pay someone to come out and fix it either. Way too much to install a $30 part. 1...

    Manual pool vacuum questions

Ordered very late Thursday, shipped Friday. FedEx promised for Sunday but that seemed aggressive. Sure enough, they pushed that to today, Monday. Got it, read directions and into the pool for the 2 hour cleaning. I didn't realize, though I should have, that it is almost totally random as far as...

    Manual pool vacuum questions

Thanks for the input. After the input and more research I went with the Pentair SI at Marina.($749). It is basically a Dolphin S300i ($999)with Bluetooth instead of WiFi. Choose it over the SE because of multiple cycles, enhanced warranty and the rough filter basket. Bluetooth was an...
