    Ultimate water test.

AHA! Slapped in the face by another senior moment. I should have figured that out on my own.

    Ultimate water test.

A pretty kitty cat/water taster-tester. If TFP would allow, I'd post more pics.

    Ultimate water test.

If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me?

Clorox Pool & Spa Smart Test Strips - Save your $$

IMHO - It's a shame that they haven't figured out how to improve this app significantly. Modern smartphones have cameras so good that they rival even some DSLRs. This app should at least be a close second to other methods of testing. The first thing missing is a calibration procedure that uses...

    Raypak heater thermometer wrong?

I just put in a new 406. Same thing. Maybe more. What bothers me most though is the swing/differential/hysteresis/or-whatever-it's-called. The hot tub will heat and shut off in 15 or 20 minutes to what I feel is comfy. But before it comes back on it starts to feel too cool. I don't know if...

    New Remote needed.

I'd like to see what's inside. If you're game for a little inexpensive experimentation ($10-20) a cheap Chinese/Amazon/eBay remote could work if it's on the right frequency. I use a four-button to control my pump speed and a single button to control the heater on/off.

    Pentair 460737 400K BTU propane.

Thanks for all the comments, folks. It looks like the noise and shipping damage are being overstated. I'm looking at the Raypak now, too. As for rodents, $700 will buy a LOT of mothballs.

    Pentair 460737 400K BTU propane.

I want very much to pull the trigger on a new, more efficient heater, the MasterTemp because the footprint is small and should be close to being a drop-in replacement. However, there are some comments that give me pause: 1) They seem to be prone to being damaged in transit. 2) They've also...

    Solar panel delta?

That's what I was seeing yesterday. Though I don't always expect it to be so. That would be me. It's a DIY black irrigation tubing affair. It sits on top of what we call the Ramada (a 6x28 corrugated steel roof over the equipment pad and propane tank). Maybe 4 feet higher than the filter gauge...

    Solar panel delta?

I'm playing with pump speed and watching the incoming/outgoing water temperature differences. I've learned from reading here that more volume is generally better than less. But too much flow can also be bad. Looking at it from a different perspective, do I want a greater delta or smaller delta?
