    Swimming with a G-tube

Hi All, It's been a while since I posted or read posts because of being away at the hospital. Last season my family took care of the pool according to a manual I had prepared for them. Only closing and opening were done by pros. I'm coming back home soon and I'll be still having my G-tube. I...

How much chlorine will I need to clean a "FL Everglade" pool

Re: How much chlorine will I need to clean a "FL Everglade" I have an excuse. I was away for a long time. What's yours?

How much chlorine will I need to clean a "FL Everglade" pool

Re: How much chlorine will I need to clean a "FL Everglade" I'm looking at this crystal clear pool and I almost can't believe that just chlorine and filtration did the job. I'm also sure that a pool store salesman would have tried to sell me tons of pool chemicals from filtration aids to flocs...

More returns or more intake suction lines

It makes sense perfectly. Flow rate is linearly dependent on the cross section area which is linearly dependent on the square of the diameter. The skimmer's intake is an 11/2" pipe. Obviously two 3/4" on the return side aren't enough. You nailed it, my friend.

How much chlorine will I need to clean a "FL Everglade" pool

Re: How much chlorine will I need to clean a "FL Everglade" 36-38 gal of 12.5%, the first thirty of which I bought right away when I started. I may have exaggerated at the beginning by maintaining FC 24 for a few days. I thought better safe than sorry.

How much chlorine will I need to clean a "FL Everglade" pool

Re: How much chlorine will I need to clean a "FL Everglade" Hurrah! The pool is crystal clear and the blueish water is more beautiful than the Caribbean’s. I still have some deposits of dead algae on the bottom and algae stuck to the bottom but I’m waiting for my Anthony DE filter...

More returns or more intake suction lines

The return lines are 3/4" and they end up flush with the wall. At the time when the pool was built they didn't install eyeballs yet. I went ahead with a DIY gadget and installed removable eyeballs for better circulation. But keeping in mind that the original design featured a main drain and a...

Leaving my BBB + Liquidator pool in the hands of my family

Re: Leaving my BBB + Liquidator pool in the hands of my fami Sounds good. I'll simply show them the flow meter and if there is no flow they'll use the trichlor tablets as plan B.

Leaving my BBB + Liquidator pool in the hands of my family

I’m almost done turning my green swamp into a sparkling oasis but alas, in a few days I have to leave again for 3-4 weeks. The green swamp occurred last year simply because I was away for a much longer period and I wasn’t around to get anyone prepared. I’m not sure if my family is able...

More returns or more intake suction lines

The pool I inherited from a previous owner had originally two ¾” returns, one main drain, a skimmer and a 11/2" Polaris line. After awhile the previous owner shut off the main drain because water from the water table leaked into it. When I inherited the pool the Polaris line had no use...

How much chlorine will I need to clean a "FL Everglade" pool

Re: How much chlorine will I need to clean a "FL Everglade" The pump's lid o-ring was just replaced by a new one and it was also lightly greased with silicone grease. I assume that even a tiny air leak will show as bubbles in the strainer basket, but nothing shows up when the system runs...

How much chlorine will I need to clean a "FL Everglade" pool

Re: How much chlorine will I need to clean a "FL Everglade" Alright, I'll try this one. I've had frequent backwashes, because of all the dead algae the filter had to handle. I noticed that every time the filter's pressure went up to the backwash level, that is from 13 to 23-25 PSI, the pump's...

How much chlorine will I need to clean a "FL Everglade" pool

Re: How much chlorine will I need to clean a "FL Everglade" Steady she goes, chief. The water has been solid blue for three days, while FC has been kept on at least 20, but most of the time at 24. (CYA=50. pH=7.2). Slowly but surely the cloudiness disappeared. Again, I've learned...
