Jet Vac AquaQuip / Pentair JV105 for tough debris load.

Anyone have any recent experience with the Jet Vac Aqua Quip / Pentair JV105 pressure side pool cleaner? I'm hoping to find a more durable (more simplistic) cleaner that can handle our debris load. We had a Letro Legend in the pool for 15 years that finally died (too many parts to fix) - which...

    Rain hosed my chemistry

Appreciate the responses... FC hasn't changed much over several days after putting in a couple pounds of CYA. Will do an OCLT once the temps come up. Am going to replace the cartridges before worrying about the white dust... sent via the cone of silence

    Rain hosed my chemistry

Thx! Will add the CYA this weekend and retest once this rain passes. We've had another 3-4". I have a bus trip this week, so the OCLT will have to wait till next weekend. Always seems like my pH requires more attention than my FC levels.

    Rain hosed my chemistry

We had >8in of rain since it started raining a day or so ago. Pumped pool down 3x in last 24hrs (no auto drain). Supposed to get more rain this week. Cl source is 12% jugs from pool store. I'll install the stenner pump setup when I replace my failing/bearing screaming single speed (needs all...

    Rain hosed my chemistry

The trouble free kit. CYA was 40 last September. Redid the CYA test twice. The same thing happened last year. CYA got wiped out after all the rain. sent via the cone of silence

What would you do? Ancient Filter & Pump

Jim - thx for the response. I only have to clean about 1x per year - I usually wait for a 2-3PSI change before doing it. We have very little dirt that gets blown into the pool. Most of the debris are leaves & sticks. Usual pressure is around 3-4PSI. Based on my readings on the forum, there...

    Rain hosed my chemistry

We've had a ton of rain at the house...we usually get 1.5-2x the 'official amount' where I am located on a ridge. Current Chems CL 4.5 (after 2 gallon of 12%) TA 80 CH 280 CYA 0 Borate 15 PH 7.2 (after a half gallon of acid) CSI -0.6 I'd like to bring Borates to about 30 ...given the absolute...

What would you do? Ancient Filter & Pump

Thx for the reponses thus far. I intend on getting the variable speed pump as my calculated savings makes it worth it over the two speed. Also, I will be fitting solar as some point in the future. Ive done some calcs for the pump, and using the larger size is worth the added efficiency running...

What would you do? Ancient Filter & Pump

Pool filter and pump are of unknown age - plaster pool itself was installed in the early 60's. What would you do??? Single speed main 0.5hp pump bearings are starting to let me know its time for a new motor. Filter cartridges for the Sta-Rite system 3 are getting a little ratty. Might be...

    Breaker life expectancy ??

Don't keep resetting the breaker. You have a problem. Most likely the breaker is not the cause of the trip. Gfci are incredibly reliable. If you've reset the breaker more than a handful of times, you should plan on swapping it out once you have solved the problem. It is not the fault of the...

    Ascorbic Acid...confused about sequestrants/cheleating solutions

Thx for all the help! Magenta went in the pool on the 2nd. I think its mostly iron. I have copper lines (pool from the 60s), but badly corroded galv piping in the home and old main supply lines. Also there was ancient pool heater that was dead...last time I tested for copper, it was false...

    Ascorbic Acid...confused about sequestrants/cheleating solutions

Well it cleared and precipitated onto the floor of the pool. I brushed a little bit of it to confirm the solids indeed appeared to have fallen out of sol'n. Not knowing if it is also AA, I left it there. Pool cleaner is off. I pulled the sock out and set it into a bucket...hard to say how much...

    Ascorbic Acid...confused about sequestrants/cheleating solutions

The total consumption of chlorine is new as was the cloudiness of the water. AA was repeated due to high levels of staining. A pool pro who saw the pool and had done many AA cycles before, suggested I plan for two cycles and slowly return the water balance over two weeks to allow the chleating...

    Ascorbic Acid...confused about sequestrants/cheleating solutions

Here are some additional fun facts. Pool water that was accidentally splashed up has left purple staining in the coping. Also the pool filter psi has risen to 6 PSI from 3-4. I did debris removal, but no vacuuming (and the pressure side legend has been broken for some time now) via pyramid...

    Ascorbic Acid...confused about sequestrants/cheleating solutions

Giant Milky Mess! So today the pool temps started to come up a bit since we've had a batch of warm weather and wokeup to a completely milky mess. 3/25 : 2kGs of AA treatment 3/26: Bottle of Nature's whatever Metal Free 4/1: 2kGs more of AA Treatment 4/2 : Added 1 bottle of Jacks Magenta Been...
