    Pool Equipment Cover

Pool has been operating in the blazing Dallas sun for 3 years now. The equipment is located on the north side of the house, gets full sun (and temp) until about noon and then remains in shade the rest of the day. I've noticed the plastic on gauges is "yellowed" due to UVs and the paint on the...

Best sealant for Oklahoma Sandstone coping

Pool is now 3 years old and Oklahoma sandstone coping (laminated, fine-grained sandstone that has a tendency to flake) is shedding small pieces and sand onto the steps around the pool. It was sealed (unknown sealant) when constructed, so guessing the sealant has worn out. I've been web surfing...

Pool Chemistry as it gets colder

Did my bi-weekly water testing today. Volume 11,200 gals Water temp 66 pH 8+ (Taylor K2006 kit. pH color is "maxed." 2 drops takes it to 7.6, 3 drops to 7.4) Cl 7 (running SWG at 25% for 6 hours daily. May need to reduce run time.) TA 80 CH 300 CYA 70 Salt 3000 Using Pool Math, and...

    Circupool SJ40

Thanks. The O ring is not a small one in a PVC union; rather it's a 4 1/4" one in the end of the salt cell housing. Nevertheless, you are correct in suggesting I may need to keep a few on hand. Just got a new one from the warranty folks at Circupool today. Put it in and, voila, the unit seals...

    CircuPool Install, Couldn't be happier

Here in the Dallas area, water temps can get to 92 or so for a month or two. I ran my SJ40 at 75% (I have a 12,000 gal pool) for about two weeks, but 50% has been sufficient ever since. During the hottest days, I was running it for 10 hours per day. I run it for 1 hour per 10 degrees....so, now...

    Circupool SJ40

Been running this unit for about a year...working great. Only complaint is on install and, recently, on cleaning the cell...after reassembly, I have a small, very slow drip. The unit has a 5" O ring that, according to the manual, must have NO lube on it. Also. the cap is to be HAND TIGHT. So...

    CircuPool Install, Couldn't be happier

I too have an SJ40 and it works great. One complaint however. On install and just yesterday, after cleaning the cell for the first time, I have a similar leaking problem...a slow drip about once every 10 seconds. On install, I held the cell in and, after a few trys, got it to seal. Yesterday...

Adjusting CH in and SWG pool

I've noted the recommended CH for an SWG pool is higher than a non-SWG pool. First, why the difference? Also, my pool is fairly consistent at CH between 275-300. I keep the other readings in line with the TFP recommendations (typically only needing to adjust pH)...so wondering if it's necessary...

    Question on cleaning SWG's

I just cleaned my Circupool SWG for the first time. The "cleaning" light on the unit was not on, but the housing is see through and the plates and (particularly) the terminals to the base were pretty gunked up. Not a big deal...just scraped the scale off and blasted with the garden hose. Took...

    CircuPool RJ Classic leaking

Circupool may not like it, but you might try teflon tape on the union threads.....

    SWCG Cleaning

Thanks. My concern is not so much the plates, but I'm getting fairly heavy buildup on the metal connectors between the plates and the base...not really enough room to use the stick in there. I've written to Circupool to ask the best way to clean that...no response as yet. Strange that they...

Pool Heat...Does Anyone Make a Pool Chiller

North Texas. Pool water temp today was 94. Daytime temps going to be at or around 100 next week with "lows" around 80. I've heard a tale that someone around here has a few "black box" solar panels hooked into his pool circulation system. In the winter he uses it to heat his pool. In the blazing...

Taylor Water Balance Calculator versus Pool Math

Thanks...guess I shall have to Google what Taylor's SI is. I generally use Pool Math as a guide.

Taylor Water Balance Calculator versus Pool Math

Today's readings: Cl 2.8 pH 7.8 TA 80 CH 250 CYA 80 Salt 3400 Temp 94 Pool size 12.000 gallons The K-2006 kit comes with a water balance calculator. Entering the above, I get a CSI of 0.35. I would normally add about 20 oz MA to drop pH to about 7.4 and the CSI to -0.05. Entering all the...

    CYA question.

I have a Wet-Edge Technologies, Lunar Quartz finish in my pool.Basically it's colored plaster with some silica in it that produces pretty colors when the sun strikes it...and is harder, more durable than a typical white plaster finish. Mine is Bermuda Blue. At any rate, within a year of pool...
