    Give up and close?

Hi everyone. So I have had a series of unfortunate events. You may have seen in my other post that my pump is going out. I have been too busy to get to it and hoped I could make it to close. My water is still 70 degrees so it seems I need to wait a bit more. Then last night we had a crazy...

    Pump Whining

So my primary question before I look at repairing or replacing the motor is: do I need to do something to isolate this issue to the motor (as opposed to the impeller side) or is that most certainly the problem? If I do, what do you recommend? Thanks!

Just checked. No leak below on the concrete.

    Pump Whining

Thanks everyone - this is very helpful. Sounds like the consensus is that this is almost certainly a motor issue not a sand damaging the impeller issue? @setsailsoon: If water has been leaking into the motor as you describe would I see a drip or not necessarily? It does seem like it’s been...

    Pump Whining

My pump has started to make a slight whining noise that trails off when I turn the pump off. I’m assuming it’s probably a bearing somewhere. Motor seems to be getting really hot so I am trying to run very minimally. I think it could be related to the sand I have been vacuuming off the bottom of...

Levels Good But Cloudy and Consuming Chlorine

Thanks for the tip. I haven’t looked at Menards. My go-to is Atwood’s Online Pool Shock. $1.99 for 10%. They ran out so I turned to their bleach for a few days.

Levels Good But Cloudy and Consuming Chlorine

Btw I checked the bottle. It does not give any information on mix of chemicals (hypochlorite or otherwise). Doe say it rapidly deteriorated into salt water but that’s essentially all hypochlorite, right?

Levels Good But Cloudy and Consuming Chlorine

Thanks! My last CYA reading was 30 which didn’t make much since to me as I have added 7.75lbs since opening. Granted, I did have to drain a couple times due to rain. I am very cautious to add as last summer when I bought the house it was almost 200 and had to drain several times. I am going to...

Levels Good But Cloudy and Consuming Chlorine

TA 95 PH 7.7 CH 225 Temp 87 One thing I did observe is that it is windy and there are ripples on the pool so that could be causing the slight lack of clarity - it is slight. Also, does the temp of the water impact clarity? Thanks!

Levels Good But Cloudy and Consuming Chlorine

Good morning. Would appreciate everyone’s insight here. Over the last few days temps have jumped up to 95 plus. We have also been swimming several hours most evenings because of this. I’m assuming this puts a much higher load on the chlorine and may explain at least part of this. At the same...

    How Critical Is Backwash

Just had a thought while sitting at work. I have been vacuuming regularly but top step still collects little seeds and random debris. I can’t vacuum there so sometimes it collects a small amount and might sit there a day. Would that start to consume chlorine that quick or is that a non issue...

    How Critical Is Backwash

Thanks for the feedback guys. I will look into both of those. This morning I passed my OCLT but I’m checking again tonight to make sure I didn’t miss count my drops! Great to hear I’ll lose less when I’m at non SLAM levels. I’ve only slammed, closed and opened my pool so far so excited to swim...

    Liquid chlorine prices up?

I discovered the same about a week ago! Where did you find the Julian date?

    How Critical Is Backwash

Ice shadow, when I opened I did an OCLT and had a loss greater than 1ppm so I understood as needing to SLAM. wireform, I’ve been performing good each night. Today’s result is getting very near 1ppm (1.5) so I am nowseeing progress. original rocket, I used a mesh cover (mounts are in concrete...
