For my part using the concepts here have slowly reduced the time to roughly 2 hours in the early evenings ( when I add chemicals ). In the fall if I get more leaves in the pool I may run for a bit longer, but 2 hours seems plenty to keep surface material to a minimum.

Was swimming in our new pool in the DFW area most days up until the week before Christmas. Normally after a run so it felt pretty good. Managed it down to 50 degrees. Haven't been in since Christmas though.

Are you sure they didn't mean sealer over rock / concrete decking exposed to the salt water? For example flagstone coping? rather than the gunite itself?
