    Robotic pool cleaner recommendations

After 10 years of manually vacuuming and using a Polaris pressure side cleaner, I finally went with a robot. Why did I wait? I was constantly tweaking and replacing parts on the Polaris including going through 2 booster pumps. I've had the Maytronics Dolphin E30 now for about 6 weeks now and I...

Pentair Whisperflo single speed pump died. Looking for a replacement (dual or VS)

Now the question is....do I pay for "professional installation" or do it myself. It's a straightforward swap, so should be fairly simple. BUT. Pentair only gives a 2 yr warranty on documented registered professional installation. Otherwise it is 60 days. Alternatively, I can pay $58 for...

Pentair Whisperflo single speed pump died. Looking for a replacement (dual or VS)

Thanks. I went with the VS pump. I figured that it is worth the flexibility of being able to dial in the right level for each task instead of being under or over powered at any task.

Pentair Whisperflo single speed pump died. Looking for a replacement (dual or VS)

I do not. All I've got is a couple of intermatic timers. Question on the dual speed. I know with the waterfall I'd have to manually switch to high speed, but when I want to use the Polaris does the pump need to be on high speed or does the booster pump take care of that without needing to turn...

Pentair Whisperflo single speed pump died. Looking for a replacement (dual or VS)

Pentair Whisperflo pump appears dead. It was over 10yrs old. Got pretty noisy last summer so not unexpected, but when I turned it on today it just hums. Tried manually turning the shaft....grinds a little but not seized. But the pump doesn't even try to turn. Looking for a dual speed or variable...

DE coming out of drains when pump shuts off.

Could it be a result of too much DE? I lost count when re-filling and may have added 1-2 extra scoops. Pressure seems good, I may vacuum and backwash just in case. Also, I think there is a small leak in one of the PVC connections just after the pump.

DE coming out of drains when pump shuts off.

When my pump shuts off, it seems like water is backflowing from the filter. I see the filter basket water gets cloudy/white and see a ring of DE appear around the pool drain. Is there supposed to be a check valve somewhere that failed, or is there maybe an air leak somewhere allowing the water...

    All that rain!

And today after 3 days of non-stop filtering, some vacuuming, brushing and more vacuuming.

    All that rain!

It had to go somewhere. Unfortunately a lot of it ended up in my pool. My yard basically flooded when the drains clogged from mulch and dirt runoff. The 5" of rain basically filled my pool to the coping....and then the flooded deck overflowed into the pool. And then the pool overflowed out the...

    Help to QUICKLY Kill Algae

I guess it depends on the robot. I only have a Polaris so I take that out. I don't want it stirring up the bottom after I brush but before I vacuum. If yours is a vacuum that is a different story.

    High CYA using pucks

As someone who used pucks for a few years, after the prior owner used pucks for a few years. I can assure you he will eventually run into problems. It may take years though. The problem he will likely run into is the gradual build up of CYA. Eventually it will get so high that his CL won't...

Went away...liquidator line kinked... now I have stubborn algae. UGH.

I've had algae blooms before when I went away for a week and we got hammered with high 90's weather and my chlorine burned up more quickly than usual. But in those cases it was a few surfaces and I could slam it and be good in under 48hrs. This time is much tougher. I had it at 2 days at 15-17...

Electric Co rebate on Variable speed pumps.....worth pursuing?

I have a 3/4hp Pentair Whisperflo (single speed) pump currently. It is 10 years old and can be a little noisy. My utility company is offering a $200 rebate on a Variable Speed Pump and I am wondering A) if it is worth replacing, and B) which pump is recommended? Seems like they are all $600-1000...
