    Loop Loc vs the competition

I'm looking for a repacement cover for my 20x40 rectangular in ground pool. The current cover is at least 10 years old and shredded last winter. Looking on Amazon, I see similar covers for around $600, ot Loop Loc for more than double that. Is Loop Loc that much better? Also, my old cover was a...

Aquacal Heat Pump - Split Pipe

Last fall I winterized my Aquacal heat pump, Model 120AHDEWNB, like they suggest. I pulled both input and output pipes, and the drain plug, and let the unit drain. When I went to restart the unit yesterday, I found the pcv elbow coming out of the heat exchanger was split. It didn't seem like a...

    New to pool chemistry...

Hi guys, I've had my pool for a few years, and always had to deal with dead algae on the bottom. I decided to get serious and ordered the Taylor K2006 test kit. It's a 20x40, 4' deep, in ground, vinyl lined pool in the northeast. The water is always clear, but I always have some dead greyish...

And Yet Another Line Clearing Quesion...

I'm probably not explaining it vey well. I have two skimmers, each with two ports in the bottom. One port on each has a plug in it. The other port of each goes thru a couple of tight bends, under the pool to the pad. The two lines from the skimmers and the line from the main drain all merge into...

And Yet Another Line Clearing Quesion...

They both have the second port blocked. The two skimmers and the main drain each have their own pipe running from under the pool. They then each go through an open/close valve, merge into one line, and enter the pump.

And Yet Another Line Clearing Quesion...

Unfortunately, both skimmers and the drain in the deep end all merge before the pump. I could block a skimmer but not the drain, unless I disconnect all the tubing, something I would rather avoid!

And Yet Another Line Clearing Quesion...

Hi guys. I have an inground pool with two skimmers and one drain in the deep end. I tried blowing the lines from the skimmer with a shop vac and only got a little out. I thought I might use a utility pump to pump them out, but the line from the skimmer has sharp bends and I can't get the hose...

    Pump Motor Replacement Q's

Thanks to help from you guys, the pump install was easy. The only problem I had was the wiring didn't conform to standard color codes...the hot and neutral were grey and lt blue. I took a guess and hooked them up. The pump fired right up, but relatively low flow out the return. I reversed the...

    still baffled by air leak

This is very obvious, so I'm sure you've checked it, but make sure the drain plugs in the pump are tight. Mine were'nt leaking when my pool was opened by a "pro" this year, but when I ran the pump they'd suck air past the threads and caused me all kinds of headaches. So obvious that it was a...

    Pump Motor Replacement Q's

Thanks for all the help guys! I installed the impeller and housing on the new motor last night and it's all set for the install into the pump tonight. My only question is on the wiring...does it matter whether the hot or neutral goes on either the L1 or L2 connector?

    Pump Motor Replacement Q's

I got the pump in yesterday, and I picked up the seal today. It's a PSR seal, by Alladin, part number PS201. Does that sound correct? The person behind the counter didn't seem sure...

    Pump Motor Replacement Q's

No, what seal do I need? Is it a common pool supply store part, or something I need to mail order?

    Pump Motor Replacement Q's

I have a Hayward Super Pump witha 1.5hp motor. At the start of the season, the pool guy told us the motor was on it's way out, but would last the season. Last night, the pump kicked on but sounded louder than usual. After a couple of minutes it started smoking, popped the breaker and shut down...

    Sand In The Pool

No, there's a concrete deck around the pool, no sand. That's what has me so puzzled. Is it possible that algae or something organic is combining with the DE to make a sand-like substance that's ending up in the pool?

    Sand In The Pool

    I don't think it's algae because it's very hard and granular. Also, I don't have a sand filter,it's a DE filter.
