    Hard sided pool vs soft...

We have had our intex for 4 seasons now and it has done fantastic , but as we close this season out I'm noticing that we're losing quite a bit of water and I'm considering getting a new pool for next year because I can't find where a leak is happening. I can pinpoint approximately what section...

    Salt test question...

When I do a salt test with a strip it comes up to 5.6 which is 2480 rpm, When I do the drop test it comes up saying 2800... Either way my salt water generator is not working right now and is reporting low salt , I have recently cleaned my plates off so it's definitely not that... I don't know...

    Salt test question...

When I use my drops to do a salt water test I'm wondering if I stop counting as soon as the color changes to something kind of pinkish or do I go ahead and put another drop in and make it go completely brick red? It seems like every time I do the test there comes a point where it changes to a...

TA - important to adjust or not?

Kind of along the lines of what I was thinking based on everything I've read that I wanted to make sure that I'm pulling the right pieces together for my current setup... thanks a bunch for the input :)

TA - important to adjust or not?

I read in pool school: There are two reasons to lower your total alkalinity (TA) right away, because you want to slow down the rate that the PH rises, or if high TA is contributing to a high calcium saturation index (CSI) which puts you at risk of calcium scaling. You shouldn't lower TA just to...

    Bleach in ladder???

yep :) - we have to take it out and drain it for storage each year, so we can do the refill with new bleach/water mixture each season. I have just read a lot of stories of algae outbreaks due to stagnate water in ladders that does not circulate. seems like a good solution

    Bleach in ladder???

We have a ladder that has to be filled with water and I'm wondering if it's okay to add a little extra bleach to that as we fill it up to hopefully discourage any algae from growing in there since it has no circulation... has anyone else used this method and has it worked out okay?
