Trust the Taylor test or the IC40 reading?

Ok everyone thanks for the help! I’ll stick with the Taylor results. The cell itself is showing all green lights as it should. The app is telling me low salt so I’ll just disregard that. Thanks again for the help. Much appreciated

Trust the Taylor test or the IC40 reading?

Hello all I just completed a complete overhaul of my pool. About 10k gallon plaster pool that I had resurfaced with pebble tec. All new equipment which includes: Pentair intellicenter i5PS Pentair IC40 SWG Pentair CC150 Cartridge Filter Pentair Superflo 2.2HP VSP I followed all the...

    Is this a check valve?

Is this some sort of check valve to keep water from draining completely out of the spa when it’s off? During normal pool ops the filtered water returns to the pool via “eyeballs” in the pool as well as a return line in the bottom of the spa. The spa water then flows over a mini waterfall back...

How to “catch” the FC level

Also I did the CYA test using the half tap water method and doubling the result read on the scale. I guess I should round up regardless?

How to “catch” the FC level

Just finished my first SLAM and the water looks great! Thank you guys/girls!! Here are the current numbers from Taylor kit: FC……9ppm CC….. 0 PH…….7.8 TA…….120 CH……220 CYA….64 My question: The FC has been drifting down from the SLAM level but now how much chlorine do I add to maintain the current...

    Living with high CYA

I’ve been doing the test trying to refine my results. I’ve tried doing the method where you mix tap water in the sample and then add the reagent and double the results. The average CYA that I come up with is about 120 so I’m thinking that exchanging the pool water is my only option.

    Living with high CYA

Ok so I guess my CYA numbers are high. The only solution is to drain/replace water. Is it ok to drain to a retention pond located near my pool or should it be to the street sewer drain? Don’t want to impact the flora/fauna/fish in the pond. Also I’ve been reading about the horror stories of...

    Reverse engineering the math

Ok maybe a silly question but I thought I would ask the experts. I have never been sure how many gallons my pool holds. I’ve seen all the various ways to calculate it but my pool is an irregular shape and has an attached hot tub. My best guess is it is about 12000 gallons. I just did a test and...

    New and Struggling

I’m new to all of this pool maintenance and I’ve been reading up on salt water generators. I am all about working smarter and not harder, and it seems SWG might make things easier. Still doing research though. Of course I have to leave town for tens days so I can’t go hard at the SLAM until I...

    New and Struggling

I’m still confused as to why I would have the algae problem with the FC being as high as it is??

    New and Struggling

Just retested with a 10ml sample and it took 40 drops so I guess the FC is 20 still.
