Sand from vacuuming pumped back into pool?

I have a sand filter also. If i do not backwash AND rinse for a few seconds before i turn my pump on after its been off for a few hours, thats what happens. I assume all the sand sits in the bottom of the filter and slips under the inner tube part. OR, maybe the tube is not properly in place...

Bringing Chlorine Down?? My chlorine is still ridiculously high! I have not added chlorine since shocking it yesterday morning, obviously. We live in Florida, have pretty much no shade in the pool area. But the chlorine is still to high to swim. None of this makes sense to me! I was sure in...

    Can I swim yet?

Yup. Let it sit over night. In the morning, the water will be crystal clear, but all the iron will sit on the bottom like dirt . You have to vacuum out into the yard, not into the filter. Then fill the pool up, and do it again, and again, and again. Today (day 4) i could finally vacuum into the...

    Can I swim yet?

I too am new to all of this, but i have been fighting with iron for weeks now. We did the towel over the intake parts, covered both, and changed the towels out every hour for DAYS. It helped some. But really, until you let the iron settle and vacuum it out, it will stay green. That is my pool...
