    Need new pump

Thank you, Patrick. The PL-2601 is the pump I had my eye on. I think the VS pumps are nice, but in my mind the controller is just something that can fail and I can't fix. The savings return on investment is far away, and money is tight on my fixed income. I originally wanted a Whisperflo, but...

    Need new pump

My pump finally died after about 12 years and I'm looking to replace the whole pump assembly. I'm looking for the ultimate quiet(er), cheap, energy-efficient, low-maintenance pump that carries a warranty even when I DIY install it. I need it to come with all fittings so I can plumb it directly...

    Chemicals expired?

Yes, that's it! I used the 003 and it stayed clear. Nothing is blooming, the water is clear, I guess I have nothing to worry about. Thanks!

    Chemicals expired?

You must have a great nose! TF-100 KIT INSTRUCTIONS. I put 9 drops of 003 and 10 made it totally clear. Without it trying to turn pink while swirling. 10x0.5 = 5. What am I saying wrong?

    Chemicals expired?

Sorry, 5ppm CC. The previous service use to keep it around 7ppm.

    Chemicals expired?

Yes. The water is clear and doesn't smell.

    Chemicals expired?

I have a new guy handling the chemicals. I tested the chlorine to see if he showed up. Think the 003 is bad, because the FC test remains clear and the pool tech said that was impossible to have 5ppm and 0 FC. He uses fancy digital testers and has done a great job even before I hired him, when...

    Green Stains

This morning after draining to the skimmer, vacuuming, and brushing: FC 4.5 CC 0 CH 1125 TA 60 CYA 80 PH 7.8 I cannot drain lower than the skimmer. Added 2 gallons bleach FC is 15 now. Already looks a little better...or maybe it's because the sun in hitting it.

    Green Stains

Right. Drain to skimmer again. Brush. Vacuum. Repeat. Add chlorine when CYA and CH are lowered. Ask why the pool tech isn't giving the problem more attention.

    Green Stains

I was doing a partial drain to the skimmer every time I vacuumed. I rigged up a hose to a single output jet on one setting of the jandy valve, since the drain was disabled a couple owners ago. This was keeping everything in check, because I didn't want a repeat of the green swamp. I noticed some...

    Green Stains

Clear water. "Too much tree" means the tree matter in the pool...I think. I'll see if I can get better pics - the ones I took earlier really don't show anything but what looks like green water. It started with half the wall in the deep end. When the temperature heats up, algae blooms, right...

    Green Stains

I'm back. Been a while. So I have the green problem again. Started in April (Arizona, about 80+ degrees in the pool). The pool chemical guy says it's not algae, but it has now spread. I can brush some off, but I fear there are stains now since it won't come off like it used to. I clean the...

    Results

1250 is where I stopped adding reagent. I chiseled the scale off, ultimately, with a cheap old chisel 2 years in a row. It just grows back. I think I'll do some more draining to get the dirt out - I need to find an attachment to connect to the return jet so that my hose clamp rig doesn't keep...
