Tried the bleach in a cup. Sticks are good. If I shock the pool, is possible that will allow the chlorine to start working thereafter?

They're called Pool and Spa test strips: Alkaline 120 Ph 7.5 Chlorine 0 This is according to the colour the strips will become after 15 sec.
