No it did not have a gasket there. That would have probably been a good thing to have. I ordered one online also but it won't be here for a couple of days. I will check that one out and see if it comes with a gasket. I just checked my order and it looks like it does come with a gasket.

Those unions look like a great idea. I will look for 1 1/2 inch ones. I wrapped the fitting 3 times around with blue teflon tape. When you say to use paste sealant do you mean pipe dope or is there a item called paste sealant?

Yes I have a manual timer. You set the time on a wheel and then put little clamps to turn it off and on. I don't have a programmable timer.

Thanks for all of the info. I know now that I should buy a 2 speed motor. With a 56J mounting flange. I know that I am wired at 220. I like the model motor STS1072. I guess my last question would be how do you switch speeds? Use a toggle or a Timer. And where do you get those? Thanks Again

Yes I found 56J on the plate. I have another question. How do I determine which voltage pump to get? On the pump I have it says 115/230. I know it has a double breaker to turn it off at the house fuse box. Not sure how it is wired up.
