Water pouring out of this "pipe" in my heater

Okay, let's assume it's the pressure switch receptacle. Given that I don't want the heater on yet, what would happen if I just capped off the pipe? I'm really desperate to get he pump running!

Water pouring out of this "pipe" in my heater

I dont know what a pressure switch is (will google it momentarily)! And I can' imagine why the pressure switch would have been removed and if it was removed, why it wasn't left with my other pool doo-dads. What a PITA!!

Water pouring out of this "pipe" in my heater

I will also add that the water did not come out of the pipe when I backwashed presumably because backwashing by-passes the heater...

Water pouring out of this "pipe" in my heater

No, the drain (or at least what I *assume* is the drain) is accessible and it works. I was able to loosen the nut and water did flow out. I have since re-tightened it. I'm absolutely stumped, meanwhile, the water in my pool gets greener and greener! :grrrr:

Water pouring out of this "pipe" in my heater

I'm trying to open our pool by myself this year. (A decision I increasingly regret.) Had some issues with the pump, but did get it up and running. Backwashing the filter was fine. But when I turned the handle on the filter to the regular "filter" setting, water began GUSHING out from the...

Trying to open the pool myself...motor just hums

Hello! I'm attempting to open our salt water pool on my own this year. (I'm reminded of the old joke about the lawyer who defends himself having a fool for a client.) Anyway, I THINK I have covered all the preliminaries. Cover off. Filled up pool to the appropriate level. Installed filter...

ACK! SWG plugged in ALL WINTER

Hey folks! While taking the cover off our in-ground SW pool yesterday and getting it ready to open, I was horrified to discover that the salt cell was plugged in, and the trouble lights were flashing away as they obviously had been ALL WINTER. (We live in British Columbia, where winters are...

Water ABOVE the jets for closing?

Thanks BUNCHES for the info! This is our fifth year with the pool (it's 7 years old) and while the cover is a BEAST to put on, this is the first time there has been any problem like this. And it's the first time we've been told to raise the water above the jets. In the off season (aka: winter)...

Water ABOVE the jets for closing?

Our winter pool cover is heavy duty vinyl (like the liner itself) and it has an edging that fits tightly into the coping of our pool liner/deck. I believe it's called a "lock-in" cover. The fellow who put it on for us in past years is no longer in town, so we have a new pool company. Long story...

    Cloudy water just won't clear

Okay, it's been a month now since we discovered our pool had turned into a swamp. Using the guidance in pool school and elsewhere on the board, we've been nursing it back to health ever since. I must admit: We live in Canada and have not been able to purchase either of the test kits the board...

Diatamaceous Earth for Pools vs. an insecticide?

Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately, I live in Canada. Well, okay, that's not unfortunate, except when it comes to buying things online. I can't find a company that will ship the DE to me without RIDICULOUSLY high shipping charges. :grrrr:

Diatamaceous Earth for Pools vs. an insecticide?

First post after lots of lurking and learning. I'm looking to add some DE to my sand filter (after an algae bloom, I just can't get the water to sparkle. It looks like Lake Louise!). However, in my town, the ONLY diatomaceous earth I could find is sold as a "green" insecticide. I couldn't get...
