I’m going to start the slam process (cloudy water, 0 FC, 1.0 CC). My CYA is below 20, and I’m having trouble bringing the CYA level up. Can I start the SLAM with a super low CYA?

I will give it a try tonight with another OCLT. On a parallel topic. I've heard folks lowering their FC so people can swim, and then bringing it back up after. How do you lower FC other than just letting it drift down?

I have the recommended test kit and it was just under the 30 line for CYA. Also dropped from 18 to 17 with my OCLT.

I use a 3 gallon bucket with my diluted MA. Set the entire cell (cables and all, I don't un hook anything) in the mixture, 3/4 up the cell so I can set it in and grab it out. Let it soak 5 minutes, and then flip it over for 5 more minutes...rinse and install.

I got FC up for 30 (target was 24) and it went to 18 overnight. Do I bring it back up to 24 today and try again tonight with the OCLT?

Ok, will test tonight...... I have had this pool for 6 years and have had no problems with this issue. If my water started to get cloudy I would run the SWG on Super Chlorinate for 24 hours and all was good again????

I just purchased the Taylor K-2006 and opened it today (haven't used it yet). The test results came from my local pool store this morning.
