36 inches of rain from Harvey!

My pool does not have an overflow pipe so when the rain started getting heavy the water came up on the patio. Not being sure if the water would drain off before it got into the house I went out in the 3 inch per hour rain and emptied it the first time. I then emptied it every time the rain...

Cannot find liquid chlorine on Leslie's web site.

Thanks for the info. I have been to other web sites that listed products that cannot be shipped, available at store only, how much trouble would it be for Leslie's to do the same?

    Do I need this part?

I was not getting any water flow into the pool and pressure was waaaay too high. Troubleshooting involved backwashing the DE filter and when that made no difference I then cleaned the filter. I noticed when I cleaned the filter that several panels were broken in spots and so replaced them. I...

No luck with CYA testing - help!

I obviously cannot tell when the dot disappears. I get readings anywhere from 70 to 120, a big difference. I have looked at the Taylor pictures but I still cannot tell.

Cannot find liquid chlorine on Leslie's web site.

Just read in another, older (March) thread that someone purchased at Leslie's a 2.5 gal tote of 10% for $4.75. Earlier today I looked at Leslie's web site for liquid chlorine and all I saw was tablets. Have they discontinued it? The best that I could find here in Houston was 3 gallons of...

    FC/CC test issues

Guess I'll have to get my wife involved. I don't think it took me more than 30 sec. to write the number down.

    FC/CC test issues

Trying to run my tests again with the TF100 kit. First issue: run the FC test, it takes 17 drops to make the color disappear but the solution looks somewhat cloudy, write down the number, turn to the CC test, whoops, the solution is no longer clear but slightly pink! What gives? Note, I...

Fifty year old pool light out

First, that is not rust. The entire fixture is chrome plated brass. Second, I believe that the outer housing would have to be replaced as the fastening method is different than what is available currently, an expense I cannot afford. I put in a ordinary 100 W bulb to test the socket and it...

Fifty year old pool light out

As far as my wife knows the pool light has never been replaced since the pool was installed fifty years ago. The light burned out four or five years ago but I thought I would have to empty the pool to fix it until I saw the thread here on replacing the bulb. My light has no screw holding it in...

    Leslie's test results: FAC 5, TAC 5, CYA 99 - I'm confused!

Had a piece of the DE filter grid break off and clog the pool inlet nozzle. Created a huge algae problem. Finally got the clog fixed, started up the pool, brushed it down and after a few days noticed no flow. Turns out the algae had clogged the filter. Took the filter out, cleaned it, added...
