You would think that. However, I am not sure that was the case. I ended up ordering an entire new filter. Between the cost of the clamp, my manifold being cracked and needing replacement soon, my filter grids probably needing replacement soon, and the uncertainty of what was causing the leak...

It looks like the clamp is $160...I'd hate to throw that money away if it is unlikely to solve the problem. I agree there isn't much to go wrong on the clamp. Hopefully some other people will have thoughts.

It is in a pretty sunny spot. You seem to be implying that you think it is the vessel itself and not the clamp. Was that your intent?

Thanks for all the discussion. It sounds like I need the round o-ring, so the one I have (trapezoidal) won't work. As for the cause of the leak, I do believe that I have the band properly tightened. I've been maintaining this filter since it was installed, so I've opened it and reassembled it...
